Modeling and the shorter range is coming together to miss Ni'ihau and Kauai to the west. The main official guidance is also locking in just far enough west to breathe easier. We still have to watch for any late adjustments back east to avoid impacts, but I feel a lot better about the core not impacting those two islands. Also, yes, the surf and wave action should be insane through the next week.

2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season
Stormchaserchuck1 replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Tropical Headquarters
The good news for hurricane lovers is that it's looking like a La Nina will develop next year. El Nino also really warms the globe a bit, lagged up to 1 year later, correlating with warmer SSTs. The last 3 Super Nino's have been followed by the following seasons: 2024: The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season was extremely active and destructive, featuring 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, 5 major hurricanes, and causing $131 billion in damage with 442 fatalities. 2016: The 2016 Atlantic hurricane season produced 15 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 4 major hurricanes, with Hurricane Matthew being the strongest at 165 mph and causing over $16.5 billion in damage. 1998: The 1998 Atlantic hurricane season was catastrophic, producing 14 tropical storms, 10 hurricanes, and causing over 19,600 deaths, making it the second-deadliest season on record. -

The southeast doesn't get enough rain? I'll disagree with you on that. Maybe the Southwest. -

I still dont understand why people bring up analogs of the 2015 strong NINO.That was a early onset of NINO IN 2014 and during into 2015 seemingly the Walker Circulation got broke down and you saw stronger EWB'S off South America which caused this to be a West/Central based NINO,unlike this year or 82-97,it really has no resemblence

Graf was correct again!!!!!! The NWS promised a 60% likelihood of storms. SPC issued a Severe Watch. Graf said partly cloudy with a 15% chance of any rain............ I have had 3 sprinkles. Graf is proving itself as a very credible source of information. This cannot be denied.

On the latest 30 day means of VP 200 anomalies. I see only one other event even remotely comparable to this one. 97-98 and this one looks like a beast next to that even. Super impressive stuff. I mean just look at this thing... -

As bad as a hurricane hitting the southeast can be, without them the southeast does not get enough precipitation.
