  2. Goat island, wow that brings back memories for me. Stayed there 30-35 years ago with the family, when I was a teenager. The pool water was pumped in from the ocean as I recall and it was in the upper 50s. Myself and my stepdad were the only ones that swam in it. Enjoy your trip!
  3. 55/50 under clear skies. I like a quick cool down before the heat builds back in. Still 8 weeks of potential deep summer to go.
  4. ^He's talking about a +PDO, which is about the least-likely thing to happen on the planet right now. If the Winters cold, it won't be because N. Pacific SSTs are the driver. His analogs come out to a +1.5 Winter PDO average. We've never seen anything close to that jump before.. last year it almost neutralized from record levels in the Fall, but that might be the biggest jump on record, and H5 was leading.
  5. Yeah lots of swimming holes we could not do. Hiking was ok, but prefer warmer.
  6. Nice video from Sanbornton https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1C3Q7AXoRq/
  7. Today
  8. When Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan are seeing a lot of snow, it’s usually really bad news for the NYC metro area
  9. Posters in the southern Great Lakes will be throwing confetti, not rocks, at the mention of 2007-08. Banner snow season. 10. I've been in Stratton, VT, since Saturday. Already pleasant air mass got displaced yesterday evening by an even better one, complete with a nice line of storms. It was a breezy 66F day at the resort and at the top of Stratton Mountain (3,875') it may have been in the upper 50s. It was chilly in the shade with that wind. Fleece and sweatshirt weather tonight. Steam is rising from the hot tubs. It's weather we'd be luck to get in mid-october. Simply incredible to experience in mid-july.
  11. Yes we will again. The cliff walk is incredible. We are staying on Goat Island for the first time. Newport is a hidden gem
  12. Highs: EWR: 90 PHL: 89 New Brnswck: 88 ISP: 87 ACY: 87 LGA: 87 TEB: 87 JFK: 85 * missing intra hour highs NYC: 85 TTN: 85 BLM: 83 * missing intra hour and hours
  13. You do the mansions? The Breakers is amazing and then you can do the cliff walk. Then check Ocean Ave and see if Kit's Kites is still there by Brenton Park. The kites are a little pricey but they are big and look great flying them there with the strong breeze.
  14. 87 today. headed to Newport this week. Weather looks perfect
  15. Canaan NWR has dropped 18 degrees since 5pm. Down to 56 and dropping.
  16. The clouds and humidity made me a little whiny this morning because of a important project im working on. The conditions because perfect at around 11. The wind flipped NW and the dry air flooded into the lowlands. I worked until 7:30 and got it done.
  17. He’s hilltop climate and exposed. The air never stops moving and if it does, the cold drains down the slope.
  18. It’s a hilltop . Highest hills are always warmest on fake nights . And coldest on real nights
  19. High of 97. Interesting that at 3:50 pm we were at 97 and then an outflow boundary came thru. No rain but the temp dropped 10 degrees in less than 5 minutes. In 20 minutes it has dropped to 81, still no rain. An hour later when the sun came back out, the temp climbed up to 87 before slowly dropping after sunset
  20. Enjoy the heat and dews while you can. The Captain has come over the intercom and asked us to extinguish our smoking materials and put our seats in the upright position. Our descent into autumn has begun!
  21. I wonder why you hold onto the heat so well. I’m not suggesting that you don’t, but what is different where you are vs here. Similar elevation. You are mostly surrounded by woods, right?
  22. A little over a half inch of rain today in two showers. The ground is so we, extreme heat should be off the table. It does feel like the tropics here lately.
  23. Sunny with highs in the low 70s and dewpoints in the 40s. Boring as ever but you can’t really beat it comfortable wise in late July. Already down to the low 60s and most likely headed to the 40s tonight. Who says we can’t get low dewpoints in the summer anymore? lol
  24. Yeah 10mph NNW wind in the valley.… 68/48 there. All baked into the Champlain Valley climate normals. It’s been the coolest spot relative to normal because of that the past few days. BTV is -4, -4, -4… while we are -3, -3, 0… despite cooler overall temps (not including today yet).
