2025 Spring/Summer Mountain Thread
Maggie Valley Steve replied to Maggie Valley Steve's topic in Southeastern States
I'm getting alerts from Haywood County about a rock slide near the border on I-40 due to very heavy rainfall. I -40 has been closed both ways. I drove through the Gorge Sunday afternoon and it took me an hour and twenty minutes to get through from the Tennessee side. -

Ravens sign CB Jaire Alexander after Pro Bowler's release from Packers https://www.nfl.com/news/jaire-alexander-ravens-sign-cb-pro-bowler-packers Excellent move imo. Former college teammate of Lamar Jackson, who has been lobbying to sign him. As we all know, you can never have too much depth at CB. Ravens especially know this.

Mid to upper 90's for us all week if it holds up.
-
93 was our high. Currently just after 6 pm it is 88/80. Feels like 105. At one point it felt like 112. Super thankful for a/c.

Cell has back built ,heavy rain currently had an inch of rain in 30 minutes. Glad you made it home ok. I’m sure there’s some flooding issues around. Rain shaft must had been impressive to see.
-
@Chinook possible tornado damage in Fraser MI
-
I was on the edge of that and had a great view of the rain shaft just off to my northwest when I came home.
-
I am hesitant to believe the mid 90s that are being forecast, especially after last year's bust. We do typically fall short, and with the amount of moisture in the ground it will be hard to get that high. However, I do think we'll get a few 90 degree days out of this. The humidity will be brutal.

There's trees and power lines down in Crownsville. Cops had roads blocked due to power crews fixing downed lines.

Your area "seems" to be a summertime magnet for storms...at least I remember last year when you received 5" or 6" from a storm?
-
Now maybe, it just dropped into the upper 70s here

I hope they sited it properly lol, have you taken a trip there to see where they put it?

March was warm. It ended up being 7th warmest Winter to date, if I remember correctly. -
Yep February-April 2007 were really cold with the VD2007 storm, the St Paddys Day 2007 storm and the Tax Day Noreaster in April. The first three weeks of January 2007 (it hit 70) were warmer than the first three weeks of April 2007!
