Rota... * Until 630 AM ChST. * At 433 AM ChST, Doppler radar indicated catastrophic winds associated with Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) approaching from the east, are imminent over the entirety of Rota. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION! TAKE COVER NOW! Venturing outside can result in DEATH from flying projectiles. Unreinforced structures will be destroyed. Utility poles and associated power lines will be down, posing a risk to life. * Locations impacted include... Sinapalo, Songsong, Annex F, Tenetu, I Chenchon, Liyu, Ginalangan (Chudan), Taimama, Tatgua, Matpo, Gampapa, As Niebes (Nieves), Talo, Makmak, Agatasi (Payapai), Lempanai, Gayaugan (Kaan), Gagani, Mananana and Finata. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Widespread destructive winds in excess of 150 mph are expected. TAKE COVER NOW! Move immediately to an interior room in your shelter. If Super Typhoon Bavi were a hurricane hitting the U.S. Atlantic/Gulf coast, it would be the second-strongest on record to make landfall with that 180 mph maximum sustained wind (between the 1935 Labor Day hurricane and Camille). I'm not sure what the strongest tropical cyclones to impact U.S. territories as a whole are, and where Super Typhoon Bavi would fall on such a list, but assuming it makes landfall on Rota (provided that the center crosses the island, which seems quite likely at this point, although you can get eyewall impacts without a proper "landfall"), Bavi would have to be among the strongest.

One of the things I was not prepared for when we moved from Michigan to "the south" was how paranoid people are of snakes down here. I don't know if it's religious or what the deal is, people are so weird about them down here.

The power outage numbers over here have not so much as moved an inch all day. I've never seen it this bad. Hotels are charging $150-$300 a night. It's ridiculous Sent from my SM-S731U using Tapatalk -
Seriously??? Yeesh that stinks

Reevaluating, my thought, I guess it would depend on how you look at , if you're just talking about the few streets in Harrisburg that got hit by a tornado in 2009. Then, sure. -
Big Heat (and storms?) Week into July 4th Weekend

Google’s forecast last night showed a window around 7pm. -
So far I have not been the beneficiary of any of these storms for any rainfall, but the outflow boundary was very welcome. Dropped the temp from 93 to 78.

Absolutely. In fact that is where the dead ash tree in the streambed is a series problem. . The culverts were blocked a year ago and padot got in trouble by padep for cleaning out the Jordan creek too well. -
Hoisting the Sultan Signal: Heavy Rain Event July 5-7

I'm just over here saying that whenever you see most (all?) of guidance spitting out some big numbers, it usually happens somewhere in a roughly CWA-sized area. The difficult part here is that this could be anywhere in the BOX/ALY/OKX CWAs. -
If today happens, it's going to be a late show.

The tree damage in the area blows 2009 away. There's not even any comparison to be had. -

We are back home from western PA. Caught the tail end of some storms between Somerset and Bedford but otherwise was smooth sailing. I have .37” in the gauge from the weekend storms. No signs of any damage in our neighborhood. -

Couple large limbs and branches down on our property from yesterday, but thankfully no damage. My wildflower bed is hurting after the wind - the pitfalls of chaos gardening. CAMs printing some hefty rain totals over Long Island in the short range. 12”+ in some cases. Some big rain potential down this way too. Currently seems maxed out at 6-8” in isolated spots. I’ll just take some steady rain today please and thank you. -

Here in Carlisle at 2:30pm...the temperature has risen quickly to a high so far of 90.9 degrees with a dew point of 75.0 degrees. For the fourth consecutive day the heat index has risen to above 100 degrees at 102.0. It has been at least partly to mostly sunny here for the past few hours after remaining overcast for most of the entire morning. While I am fortunate to not have lost power, I did lose internet (via Comcast) last night around 8:00pm, and it's still out. I'm tethered to my phone for providing temporary internet through T-Mobile. -

Right. My point was, whether it's a flash flood or just multiple days of moderate rainfall, it takes time for larger rivers to respond. -

Dews have to be in the 70s. -
I would have loved to have seen some rain. Less than a quarter inch here.
