Dude…it’s sleeting so hard that you can’t even tell if there’s snow mixed in.
-
Just going off of user reports on radarscope, maybe not the most reliable.
-
Seems high? Lot of drifting so my usual measurement spot isn’t accurate. I had 6” on my driveway
-
up to 7 inches here

While the looks of the last couple of days of storms having disappeared from the long range leaves a snow lover feeling like they are being let down, it is possible we are in that window of time where storms disappear for a couple of days. We just tried being in the bullseye 5-7 days out and that failed miserably here in east TN. Let’s try the models saying all clear and see if they can be wrong that way also. At least the cold will be such that anything that does pop up has a chance to be a snow event for the mid-south.

Near whiteout conditions in ridgefield park. Down is doing a great job clearing roads. Down to blacktop. -
This is driest sleet I have ever seen in my life. Almost powdery. Wild.

7” with snow pellets mixing in. Another .75” in the last 30 mins. -
I'd like to take credit for a call, but I rode the NAM Nest. If I had a dollar for every "LOL NAM" and "the NAM sux" posts in the past 3 days, I could have retired early. I completely understand the skepticism back on Thursday and Friday, but once we got inside of 36 hours and it didn't budge, I thought it had a high likelihood of verifying with p-type, even if it did a poor job with QPF prior to the flip.

At 11:28 AM EST, 1 N Winston-Salem [Forsyth Co, NC] Broadcast Media reports Snow of 1.30 Inch. Around 1.3 inches of snow and sleet at the WXII studios. -
Looking at the Correlation Coefficient radar sleet would be at Staten Island within 30 to 45 mins.

Pittsburgh/Western PA WINTER ‘25/‘26
TheClimateChanger replied to Burghblizz's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
Hopefully some moisture gets stuck in western Pennsylvania and it continues snowing longer than expected. I know a lot of times we're dealing with mix and dry slots, but a surprising amount of snow comes after the storm moves away and it gets us near the forecast anyways. Obviously not dealing with either today, but hopefully we still benefit from that scenario. -

Couldn't keep up with the snow shoveling. Inch an hour rates if not more. I measured between 4.5" and 9" so total somewhere between there, lol. Snow is drifting quite a bit because of the powder consistency. -

Well, it was fun while it lasted, however, the fun is now over. I began mixing with sleet about 20 minutes ago, and within 10 minutes it had gone over to nearly 100% sleet. I rushed out to bring in my gauge before the liquid equivalent began to rapidly contaminate the qpf. Unfortunately, I think I was a bit slow to recognize the changeover because the 6.0" storm total so far melted down to 0.70" producing a somewhat improbable ratio of 8.6 : 1. I'll be anxious to see the reports from others here that do meltdowns to see if anyone else comes in below 10:1. Once again, I'll report that I'm 100% sleet with a temperature of 11.1 degrees. I'll say this...it's a good thing I'm not 30 years or even 20 years younger (I'm 66) or I know I would have been incredibly disappointed. Instead, like most others here I'll focus on the positive aspects and the thrill of the chase. The only redeeming thing is that the storm total reached 6". I realize there's more of the storm yet to come so perhaps the sleet will accumulate enough to bring my storn total higher. -
.17le at cpk last hr. .3le last 2hrs and..56le storm total. They have to be close to 8" there

Probably my heaviest snowfall rate currently. Darker outside as well. Along with wind...nice. 12F/heavy snow -
What a strange storm. Still only 6 degrees with heavy sleet. I shoveled a bit and except for a tiny bit of snow underneath the sleet, it's been all ice here. I'm estimating 4" otg and the plows are keeping everything clear - even went to the gym and there were plenty of folks there, too. Hopefully we will flip back to snow as the system moves north. Regardless, this stuff will be around until April.
