That last image is the eyebrow-raising one. A really nice cluster of lows off the Delmarva and a tight gradient. I'll take it.
-
Is the low off the coast cranking up? .

Wow! I just tried to flip a empty soda can into my outside recycling bin…I missed and the soda can slid all the way into the neighbors yard because of the new ice rink out there… -

So what did we learn from this? NAM thermals are still king. GFS is a JV model that should just be tossed if it's on an island. Sleet isn't so bad if 4 inches of it falls. Nina still screws up the northern stream Uccenelli knows what he's talking about -
The ridge axis/orientation has been the primary issue on recent runs compared to what was advertised a few days ago. But yes, still time for the models to show us they don't usually get key features quite right 5+ days out.
-
What are they caused by? That’s super cool.

E PA/NJ/DE Winter 2025-26 Obs/Discussion

Caution needed wrt glancing ahead at LR unicorn patterns, but this is sort of what im referring to. All 3 ens going into mid feb are loading up with a split out west, +pna, -Ao, -nao with the pattern setting up to flip/relax. When that nao flips to positive is a period of interest. In short, if next 10+ days are dry and cold, I have a good feeling we arent quite finished yet. -
When I grew up they'd do a circle and clear near the curb and leave a big pile in the middle. It would be almost impossible to get out of the driveway.
-
whats your total so far ?
-
lol, JFC… no one’s punting anything. You just got probably 9” of snow/sleet that’ll stick around for 1-2 weeks with more chances ahead over the coming weeks. I feel like your soul needs a move to New York or something.

Wind chill values as low as -5. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Tuesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 4. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Wednesday Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. Wednesday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 2. Thursday Mostly sunny, with a high near 18. Thursday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 0. Friday Mostly sunny, with a high near 17. I wouldn’t sleep on this one. Right now ridge and trough axis too far east, but we said the same thing about today’s threat being too suppressed. Lots of time for things to change for better or worse.

I would give all my snow to see that as painful as that trade would be. That's a once in a lifetime kinda thing I believe. Never seen it in my life at least -
I’ve been on that line for a few hours. Flipping more snow now; winds are up. Likely an additional 1-2” of snow/sleet. I stopped measuring before at 10”.
-
Yeah I think I screwed up somewhere. I had like 6.7” of snow, and now we are at about 3.5” of sleet. But adding my hourly obs up I’m at 9.9” (including 6:30). Whatever lol.

100% mod to heavy snow in Vernon, NJ. Not 1 sleet pellet. 9.9F
