Very few skeeters here so far. We also had very few black flies during their typical peak (early to mid May). Lots and lots of hornets and wasps though. circle of life?

Just enough rain to keep things green here

2026-2027 Super El Nino
bluewave replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Yeah, we could have active forcing from the WPAC and CPAC over to the EPAC with how extensive the warm pool is forecast to become. Notice how the sensible weather from the Great Lakes to the Northeast wasn’t all that different between 1997-1998 and 2023-2024. Forcing either focused near the EPAC in 1997-1998 or more split like 2023-2024 between the WPAC and CPAC along with the EPAC yielded roughly similar results for the Great Lakes and Northeast. -

62 degrees this morning. More clouds Definitely hot and humid yesterday but a decent breeze. -
Glad to see those Bears are still going strong and causing mayhem. Lol. I worked in a few restaurants in Stowe back in like 2004/05 and they were the highlight of our night when one would show up and tear apart the dumpster..

US National Weather Service State Colle Showers (with an isolated storm) this morning will bring some precipitation, but no severe threat. Storms begin to develop during the mid-to-late afternoon hours across portions of northwestern Pennsylvania and will gradually spread southeastward this evening. These storms will bring all severe hazards (damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes) to portions of central Pennsylvania this evening. Stay weather-aware! #PAwx | 06/06/2026 @ 5:53am -
Not sure about this severe threat, 3k NAM has literally zero

I had noticed the same but they seem to be returning now. Noticed them last couple days.

What I would give for something like this.

It looks like it's going to warm up next week but rain chances return. It's been a nice first week of June. Not had to run my AC. It was in the upper 40s two mornings this week and the lower 50s this morning. Its 57 right now. I just leave the windows open and the house cools down to around 65 by morning, and it's not been able to get above 72 inside before the day starts cooling. Once the humidity returns, so will the AC.

For parts of the NYC Metro these few days right now are marginally hot. I think before this month is out we will see some more genuine heat. The incoming air mass (Sunday-Monday) really is not a cool one and it should heat up very quickly as it passes slowly from nw to se just south of us Tues-Wed. I expect more widespread 90 degree readings Wed-Friday and IMO the only thing that could hold temperatures lower is if more moisture from the south gets this far north than I expect. The 90 degree readings could last into next weekend. WX/PT

Maybe. Of course one area could get that renegade deluge with 4" while two towns over gets nothing. tis the season "we just don't know..."

It's gon' be dry...

I have read so much about black flies! They are swaths with 100 ft.? range ..and certain colors are magnets
-
Normal summer then - within current parameters and (non)- constraints of 2026!
-
It’s summer Really just goes back to slightly above normal on Sun - Tuesday and then that’s a heat wave

Black flies are horrific right now. Bloody arms and legs, from killing them as they bite. They are insufferable once you get into the woods and especially at elevation. Eventually they will die off, and then it will be deer/horse flies as the culprit.

Ran into her again today. Bashful and just hosing grass. 12 hours a day eating grass, bulking up to 600 pounds. Then down at home, cubs running wild following Mom into our neighborhood.

It’s looking more like an early developing east based event.
