  1. Past hour
  2. Most of the models have shifted south. The HRRR seems to be drunk with the 970 something low in the U.P.
  3. Is rain what we call this?? More like a few sprinkles or a Trace of rain. lol
  4. From Paul Roundy: "Base state supports Bering Strait and Greenland blocking, with troughing in the eastern US. A fast component of the MJO signal moves through Indian basin to Maritime Continent 15-30 Dec offsetting the cold eastern US signal and potentially forcing a period of warm anomalies in the eastern US."
  5. radar and snow reports from Virginia
  6. About 4inches here and 28 in my back yard. Eagle Rock, VA
  7. After hovering around 32.2° all day, the temperature has finally dropped below freezing to 31.8°. I measured 1" of snow at 1pm, but it doesn't look like much has accumulated since then despite the continuation of steady light to moderate snow. Looking at radar, once this steady snow ends, it looks like flurries and snow showers will continue into the evening.
  8. Yea. We were buried with stubborn troughs into Cabo early and often past several shitty seasons.
  9. Hear that! At this point, I guess I’m just rooting for anything over 1”.
  10. I think this time last year and even the year before, we already started to see storms digging deep into California. Looking for any glimmer of hope possible.
  11. Given the background -PDO/Nina, we’ll almost certainly deal with west coast troughing again this winter…but I’d rather roll the dice with it in later January and February versus December. And hopefully it’s not digging into Baja…a lot more manageable when it’s a PAC NW trough.

  13. No because the Sunday system is needed to bring the cold and set up the baroclinic zone for coastal storm development.
  14. That’s exactly how we roll in a normal winter. Clipper light 1-3” event followed by coastal storm development 4” or more!
  15. The good news at least is that Cali and the entire SW region is dry. The winters of death troughs in the pac west just could be behind us now…
  16. What's with the last storm's clouds? Not moving out. It's been like three days now and the clouds are still sticking around
  17. 35/32 here now. If we can squeak out one good snow shower this afternoon I would take it!
  18. What's with all these clouds for the last four days?the storm's clouds are not moving out.Why is that
  19. Whatever we get, this is a great start. Two events in early December for RVA. Tempted to get a t-shirt that says Short Pump is a snow town for some posters in the main thread. DISCLAIMER - Knowing that they will get theirs, and as always when we get a real big one, they get even a bigger one. No real insult, snark or regional bias intended.
