32.2F No power for 6 hours. Our whole hill is out. This has turned into a significant event here. There has been almost no melt off on trees or power lines today. Untreated surfaces that were not treated are an ice skating rink. Yesterday I wanted to put a big blue tarp over the part of the driveway we use but "someone" ha, in my family said that would look stupid and I'm overreacting. The biggest problem is yet to come. Maybe a very brief warmup with fropa mixing but with the wind and the trees this is going to cause more power issues. Plus, the glaciated surfaces are not going anywhere fast!

One year ago today, this was the coldest Euro Weeklies map (for mid Jan): it’s always going to be hard to match something like this in the SE as a whole in the general sense. And there was also a second very cold week around the time of the Gulf coast storm. But one doesn’t need historic periods like this to still have a great period of winter:

I got about an inch out of squalls earlier, with lighter snows and blowing snow continuing. VERY windy. I think peak gust at the airport was 61.

Not quite to freezing yet, 33.7/16.5 at 3:30 pm. Have a few flurries from time to time, that only means 'Shoe and Canaan are getting rocked lol. Highest wind gust so far was 47mph. Currently NW 16 gusting 35 mph. WC running 23 to 19 on those numbers right now. EDIT- I checked up (literally) at the airport (KHSP), they are 24 degrees with WNW 37 gusting to 49 mph. That puts their WC at 5 to 3. Chilly!

Whew, made it through with solid snow cover. The temp is 45 now but will be dropping very shortly, the dews thankfully started dropping over an hour ago, after a high of 41 the dew is now back down to 26. Only had two hours of dews upper 30s, which is when the pack really starts to go.

I assume they just left the ceilings and augmented in the 1/8sm. But yeah, with 70mph gusts and heavy snow and blowing snow I’d guess the ceilings should be obscured. lol
