2026-2027 Super El Nino
40/70 Benchmark replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
I have already said I think it will be colder than 2015-2016, just not cold. -
Actually the Park was a decent representation of NYC today. Same 93 at LGA, and several degrees warmer than JFK, as you would expect with a south wind most of the day. That intense upper 90s heat was more in NJ and west of the Hudson in general. Or a good distance north of NYC in the Hudson Valley. Did achieve 100+ heat indexes though with mid 70s dew points.

Falls lake, after the two watering days, has resumed its steep fall that was stabilized for about a week due to rain
-
We've only managed to hit 90, 91, 90 the last three days, so pretty tame.
-
Toronto hit 97 as well with a dew of 77. 113F with the heat index

Won’t be surprised if my low is above 85 the next two days. -
Had about a 3 hr period here where winds went onshore, temp dropped from 97 to 90 then back up to 97 as winds shifted back offshore . Currently 90°.

Not even close. HI is 104 at 9pm. -
Cubs put up 23, lol
-
Yes it did. It was a very impressive start to the heatwave there.
-
some years ago, during a very warm summer, JFK recorded a dewpoint of 84F with a wind right off the ocean (the ocean was super warm). If you're by the water, you can get there.
-
honestly they'll probably do it even with the river wind. If we get more of a western component then you're probably looking at a run at the all-time record.
-
I am of the mindset that if we are going to have tropical dewpoints then we are entitled to have tropical downpours.
-
You should not have dewpoints at 79 degrees. You are way too far north for this. Those are conditions for the Gulf Coast or places like Buda, Texas where I live. I've been out in this all spring/early summer. I'm used to it.
-
Going on 9 and sitting at 88/79 with a heat index of 104. That is just not right.
-
It's really hard to fiquire out exactly why, but it's been 2 full seasons of bad baseball going back to about the half point in 2024. It's not a small sample size anymore. The team just isn't as talented as what they were made out to be. Even Gunner has been on a downward spiral for the last 2 seasons. I'm torn on what direction they need to head in long term but what there doing now isn't working and hasn't worked for 2 full seasons now.
-
Looking like Fri may be the one hot day near the south shore. I don't think the barrier islands got above 80 today and may not tomorrow either.
-
I don't know...that was just half a season, though. He was pretty dominant in the first half and in the seasons before. So that was more likely to be blip as opposed to evidence of regression. And here's what I always say about a closer: they are hard to raise and you need to get a little lucky. Relying on young arms to fill the role when you are trying to win is a risky proposition: to be a closer requires a different mentality than the other bullpen innings. Not just any arm with good stuff can do it.
