  1. Past hour
  2. Crazy to think that if that blocking stuck around even for another week NYC would have been in reach for the snowiest winter in recorded history. That Chicago blizzard would have probably done it
  3. we 40s again tonight Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. Monday Night Clear, with a low around 47. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Tuesday Sunny, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 51. Calm wind. Wednesday Sunny, with a high near 82. 4. You might say that these are not big anomalies, but this is the +AO that just won't go away. So persistent since May! There might really be the chance for some -EPO periods this Winter, as I believe a cold H5 over the Greenland part of the Arctic Circle correlates to -epo/+pna actually in the wintertime.. not sure I would forecast anything other than a negative PNA though with what's going on in the Pacific. We saw this same pattern last year until September.
  5. Today
  6. Picked up about .4 today, about 2 inches the last week. Areas just west of me in Scott Co has gotten around 6+ inches of rain the last few days.
  7. It flooded the parking lot at work Sent from my SM-S166V using Tapatalk

  9. This is one of the biggest differences between the Great Lakes and SNE/east coast. The reliance on a monster storm to make or break the season in terms of percent of average. Due to the more frequent snowfalls but less crippling storms, an entire seasons pattern is the bigger indicator here. Don't get me wrong, a 10"+ storm happens and you can all but lock in an above avg snow season, but you can also have a great season if its active even tho the biggest storm is like 6-8". In a place like NYC a monster storm (2016 for example) can make what wouldve been an otherwise crap season an above normal one with one swing of the bat.
  10. Outflow boundary coming through-nice breeze finally.
  11. Thanks, Yoda. So, this Andy Hazelton tweet is sort of agreeing with what Eric Webb just had said about an expected quiet August into early Sept. Note, however, that Andy said “I’m kinda of the same opinion that August may be quiet in the Atlantic”, which isn’t a forecast since August “may be quiet” in any year. A forecast would say something much more explicit like “August will be quiet”, “I expect August to be quiet”, or “August will likely be quiet”.
  12. It wasn’t great today but was non brutal. Great comes for couple days
  13. A hurricane or TS will landfall somewhere in the Atlantic on September 7 hazelSODOFFton
  14. No rain here today other than some sprinkles and light showers this morning which amounted to 0.02. Eastern Suffolk been getting crushed all evening

  16. I’m just looking forward to the relief the next few days with lower temperatures & comfortable dew points. If it roasts in August, at least we know the end of Summer is near. Football will be back & dreams of Fall temperatures will be not too far in the future. Lol, Where is that Met Fall countdown tracker?!
  17. High of 95 today. Dew points once again hovered around 80 all day. So tired of the heat. We did have a nice thunderstorm around 1:30 am that dropped .55" on us.
  18. Barely a trace of rain in Greenfield today. Nice to see you. That Porter was delicious!
  19. Only .47 the last 6 days. Let's see what this week brings.
  20. Major heat this late week and weekend. Not surprising as August will roast.
  21. A couple of little showers brought me .03 of rain in Marysville today. Another day with no watering required this Summer.
  22. That storm may have rode the outflow from the earlier storms. Had a wind shift here from those.
  23. Got to 90 here late in afternoon. A bit surprised, didn’t think this morning I’d get there. Still 81 here now at 9:30pm But was outside mowing, working etc earlier from 12-2pm and I found it to be awful. Sweating profusely. The grass got unusually high … unusually quickly … in the past week.
