Maybe not the same location as you...but the folks in Ottawa and Montreal will be freezing their ********* off soon.

They looked to be destroyed by cold over the next week.

Enjoy! :snowman:

This is why montreal has an underground city!

The real question is will we see below zero highs?

That's a cold day considering the sun will be out.

Here's the BTV NWS forecast for Peacham over the weekend.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 11. Wind chill values as low as -12. Northwest wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Saturday Night: A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -11. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday: A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 1. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -24.

Monday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 1.

As I am on the side of a hill I will probably not get as low as those nightime lows.

Well, there was that cold spell in 2004 (I think) that closed most of the schools in the state (wimps)

I saw -19F during that... No big deal I saw -25F in NW VT once

Pete sees that weekly

Yeah I do remember that. I saw -10F or so. This could beat or come close to that. No cancellations this time around haha too many recent snow days.

I went out for a 2 mile walk around 11PM on the coldest night. The inside of my glasses were thickly rimed with ice when I came home.

I live in a somewhat new house and it is pretty tight. When temps get below -5F or so, you can feel the cold seeping in through outlets, around the door, etc.

Not good for the oil bill...

Sure beats torch!

Looks like we have a new Walt Drag in BOX ..nice to see the in depth detailed discussions again guys name is Sipperell

CLOUDS WILL BE ON THE INCRS INTO AFTN AS A SECOND SHRTWV TROF WILL

TRANSLATE THRU THE ERN GRT LKS RGN AND THRU NEW ENGLAND. A BLEND OF

THE NAM/GEM/ECMWF HIGHLIGHT A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRES DEVELOPING ACRS

THE ERN GRT LKS THRU NEW ENGLAND AHEAD OF THE ANTICIPATORY ARCTIC

AIR MASS. MID-LVL CLOUDS ARE LIKELY TO BE ON THE INCREASE LIMITING

TEMPS FROM AN AVERAGE 5-10 DEGREE RISE FOR HIGHS ON SAT. POPS ARE

LIKELY MORESO IN THE VICINITY OF THE GRT LKS RGN...BUT THERE IS A

SLIGHT CHC FOR -SN TO REACH INTO THE BERKSHIRES AS THERE IS

ADIABATIC LIFT EVIDENT IN THE ISENTROPIC FLOW FIELDS...ESPECIALLY IN

FAVORABLE SNOW GROWTH REGIMES.

INTO SUN...WITH W-NWLY FLOW DECOUPLING OVRNGT AND INCRSG CLOUDS

OVRNGT MINS SHOULD FALL BELOW ZERO FOR INTERIOR ELEVATED RGNS...SUCH

AS THE BERKSHIRES AND WORCESTER HILLS...WITH SINGLE DIGITS ELSEWHERE

EXCLUDING THE CAPE AND ISLANDS. CLOUDS SHOULD BREAK INTO THE AFTN

WITH DEPARTING WEAK SFC LOW ALLOWING TEMPS TO REBOUND AN AVERAGE OF

10 DEGREES FOR DAYTIME HIGHS...BUT AT THIS POINT THE ARCTIC AIR MASS

WILL BEGIN TO SETTLE ACRS THE AREA WITH H85 TEMPS AVERAGING -16C AT

MORNING TO -20 TO -22C BY EVNG.

INTO MON...CHALLENGES REMAIN AS SOME UNCERTAINTY LIES WITH POTENTIAL

CLOUD COVER. NEVERTHELESS WITH SUFFICIENTLY COLD ARCTIC AIR MASS...

WEAKENED NWLY FLOW...AND LIKELY SNOW COVER...TEMPS WILL PLUMMET TO

COLDEST VALUES YET FOR THE SEASON. GOING BELOW GUIDANCE...PRESENT

THINKING IS FOR INTERIOR VALLEYS AND HILLS TO FALL TO -10 TO -15F...

WITH REMAINING INTERIOR SECTIONS...INCLUDING THE BOSTON METRO...TO

FALL SEVERAL DEGREES BELOW ZERO. ONLY THE CAPE AND ISLANDS LOOK TO

REMAIN ABOVE ZERO FOR THE MON MORNING TIMEFRAME. SKIES LOOK TO

REMAIN CLEAR THRU MON ALLOWING HIGHS TO RISE INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS

FOR INTERIOR HILLS AND VALLEYS WITH TEENS ELSEWHERE.

Allenson shared a map with me from the last time it got this cold... I think we beat that low in KLEB of -26.

It'll be close. That very morning was a the coldest one since we've lived in Corinth (-27).

Had consecutive mornings of -19, -27 & -18 during that stretch.

I'll be wrapping my truck's engine in an electric blanket Sunday night so I can get to work Monday morning!

Tonight: Scattered flurries before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around -40. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

INL actually dropped to -46F this morning, their coldest temp since 1909!

Monday should be the coldest day with high pressure and limited mixing..heavy heavy cold.

very cold stuff. i'm pretty impressed with the MEX values being day 3+ right now. was just looking back at the AFD with the climo info and not impossible for all 4 major stations to break their record low maxes for Monday. wouldn't bet on it, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

probably one of those rare times when a W/NW wind can bring OES across CCB to parts of this area.
