Did this storm reach Blizzard Criteria anywhere?

Bruschi can chime in but his 80% rain, 20% snow mix probably didn't cut it. The Cape certainly didn't make the criteria for anything aside of bone job I think...most of it, I doubt PYM county did either.

I thought Hull got 28.3" in the Blizzard of 1978. Of course I guess nobody could tell based on the excessive drifting and coastal damage that took place.:)

Yep, but the ratios were wicked. Do you remember the videos it looked like soup in the streets. Great site... http://www.hampton.lib.nh.us/hampton/history/storms/78sad.htm Hampton beach got ruined too but we don't talk much about it. There's a lot of pictures on this site I bet most haven't seen from hull http://www.town.hull.ma.us/Public_Documents/HullMA_conservation/slideshow/page15

Here's a few more for those taking trips down memory lane http://werme.8m.net/blizz78.html

The next time it's thawing and you want to read some terrific first hand accounts of that night in hull, this is the best site I've ever seen. http://hullnantasket.homestead.com/Blizzardof78hull.html

It gels well with my own relatives who describe water suddenly smashing up against their front doors when it got through the seawall....and the fear of death pretty much at that point not knowing how bad it would be.

Curious what type of ratios accompanied this snow in CT etc...official reports?

Harvey just said the 20 inches in Worcester County came with only a little over 1 inch water.

In reality for all the yapping this morning about how the other models were terrible and the NAM was the balls (it did well with the track)....if we're running 20 to 1 ratios everywhere out that way and west...ALL the models that put down .9 to 1.50/1.7 in that whole area, and across the state nailed it....

At 20 to 1, the NAM had some spots with 2 to 2.5 I think...not sure I've seen 50" reports anywhere yet.

What a great storm. 14" here in Attleboro and an experience I have never had before. 3 rounds of thunder snow early this morning within 90 minute period. One lightning strike was very close. The thunder rattled the windows and I had the dog following me around the house like it was a severe thunderstorm in the summertime.

I live on Samoset avenue...Coburn is right at the corner..that is amazing...We have been here for 5 years and thankfully we have never faced a situation like that...Remember the Blizzard of 78 well..My sister lived up off Atlantic Hill in Hull and she had to be evacuated due to no heat and burst pipes...amazing...Though I am really concerned that we keep getting these Blizzards..our time may run out if we get one like one in 78...History has a funny way of repeating its self!

Thanks

Craig

Snowed the entire time...still snowing light to occ . mod

You ready for this

25 inches...

I am speechless

Imagine if you hit 28" (not that it will happen)... close to doubling the Tolland record

Good calls by you, Ray, etc.

I'm not sure I buy full-event totals that were 20:1. I think people who found their w.e. by melted down snow cores would end up with 15:1 at best.

My first 6" were about 10:1 and my next 13" were ~15:1. Adding in my fluffy extra 2-3" on top and I probably finished with 13-14:1for the event. That includes sitting in deform heaven with 2-3"/hr for a few hours. The ASOS/AWOS gauges didn't fare too well with measuring the liquid equivalent (although the AWPAG gauges were somewhat better where winds weren't too high), and I'm sure the home wx stations were even worse. The Collinsville poster from here had 12:1 in CT with a 17" storm total. I believe he uses cores as well.

Good stuff! Cousins are still in the area.

The thing about it, is the streets that were flooded didn't drain for days/a week because of the sal****er ice slurry. I too worry about these storms, we are all taking a wicked beating near the water the last 5-10 years. Seems to be really increasing in frequency and intensity.

How much snow did you get from this event?

It seems like areas right near me may actually have done better as the CF moved west at almost the same time precip came in here which kept it a little cooler.
