Ground is cold. Just had to put ice melt on the sidewalk since the mel****er is now ice again.

Yes sir, driveway a sheet of ice once again, digital says 34.6 at 2 meters but the ground has already refroze again.

Dangerous roadways on secondarys once again tonight.

Between 6-8 inches of snow covering all surfaces, much more where drifting occured.

Will come out of the other side of this brief warm up with plenty of snow around, next week looks great to me, would love a couple 1-3 2-4 inch powder deals to freshen things up again.

(forecast for low of 30 here by OKX)

Minimal loss of snow pack here today.....looks like the top 6" sublimated nicely ensuring the bottom 6" is secured as concrete. Freezing fog in the forecast tonight replete with plenty of black ice after mid night. We're tucked in for a nice comfy, safe NYE here and are looking forward to another event late next week.

29/27, we just went for a ski tour and conditions are great. The snow remains dry and fast. The tracks set over the last few days have firmed up and any snow loss was nominal at best. well below freezing tonight then a little adversity before going back into the snowy freezer. Winter is the best. Big Winter underway, big big Winter.

Happy New year to everyone. I hope we all get our fair share of snow in 2011.

32 here now.... Tomorrow is nasty, but out here temps will probably hold in the low/mid 30's Sunday anyway.

Snow is almost melted here, most areas still have 2" or so but lots of bare spots too. It's not very pretty anymore but it was useful to level off double sloped ground to put my extension ladder on at work today. Real heavy cement stuff.

Says the man from Connecticut's snow hole...

Still 8-10" on the ground here in Westchester. Snowpack has really firmed up from the nights in the 20s despite mild, sunny days with 850s >0C.

39.4/30...desperately hoping to get below freezing tonight.

Minimal snow pack loss? Really? It was pretty much mid-40s everywhere today. That's pretty bad for snowpack. Between the snow removal operations and temperatures near 40 or better all week, you would have no idea that there was a major snowstorm around here.

Why would you do that? Let it ice up.

A bone chilling 37.6 /30 here at 1,000 feet..Congrats to all who freeze up tonight.

in the state of huge government infringement upon others, *ahem* :snowman:,

In Massachusetts they ticket /fine homeowners who do not keep their sidewalks and pathways clean.

Happy New Years Hangover everyone, no drinking here last night (saving it for X-Mas party today)

One word: WOW!

check out the temp and fluctuations in wind dir. the gusts are not working, need to call Davis. neat microclimate here relative to the deep valley.

Any WNW drops down from Uncanonnuc Mtns just to west, compressing air to warm things; an east wind is cold from valley. That is my basic understanding.

dropped .7 in last five minutes

I suddenly feel very lucky that I went below freezing last night (although I'm now at 32.0/28, let the melting recommence).

You'll be good until 9:00 or so when it'll kick in.. All the hilltops just getting smoked with warmth. I knew we wouldn;t kiss 32 here Look at ORH at 41 and Savoy in the Berks is 47!!

While BDL and lowlanders are in mid 20's.

Curious that I'm sitting at 32.0 with my location. Exposed hill, essentially the el of ORH airport. Some of the other hilltowns of the East Slopes are experiening relatively low temps as well:

Ashfield, Conway, e.g. are all coming in low. Even Beckett at 1377' is coming in at 27.1.

LOL..Tippy unleashes on Kush yesterday in the tornado thread

You being primarily that person -

Look, there are no rules and you are guided by misconception about what this forum is for. You play in popularity games and come from that ilk that doesn't offer anything worth merit or value. You also attempt tactical sniper posts while trying to do so within the confines of the rules - it's blatantly obvious and you should not be allowed on the forum period because of it.

It is you and your type that runs this down this resource for everyone, not me and my posting a thread out in the Main forum over a subject matter that was held invisible because that other thread was started in a sub forum.

You don't make the rules for a good reason, so shut the f* up and take your pointless, baseless, meaningless enforcement of any "rules" elsewhere. idiot. and why don't you learn one iota of Meteorology while you are at it - you don't know anything.

Well here it's because of the winds. Gusting to 18 mph out of the ssw :arrowhead: Ugly

Ah---my high gust so far for the day has been 2 mph. Keep those winds down there, will ya?

EDIT: just took a look at the Savoy p/c. At least theire temp isn't expected to rise much--forecast high is 50. I have 51 as mine, so I'll have a nice spike in the coming minutes/hours.

32.2/28
