I will say, even with not much of a change in airmasses you can just feel the weight of the changing season each day…that sun taking longer to climb the horizon, not feeling as intense midday, getting dark earlier, foggy mornings, etc.

We love to see it. Seasonal change is beautiful.

It was 35° like you mentioned at KSLK, but 46.3° here at WXW2. I am approximately 5 miles away from the airport as the crow flies. I’ve found that a 10 degree spread or so is normal on a rad cooling night.

Huh, one thing I just noticed looking at SLK’s summer stats. June was +0.8°. July ended up dead normal. 0.0° departure. Can’t say I’ve seen that often for any site…but as of yesterday, August was also 0.0°.

SLK is another site that didn’t have official early 90s obs pre-96 (ASOS era) so like MHT, I’m not sure what they’re doing statistically to derive the normals.

edit…looks like SLK ASOS went online summer of 1998.

We’re just going in circles. Your area has been pretty wet the last couple months. July was bone dry in this region. I did get lucky with a 3” event to start August, but it was a narrow stripe and most of it ran down the hill into the river valley.

We just need one of those 2 week stretches where we rack up 3-5 days with at least a half inch.
