It's going to be feast of famine. You're either getting under an inch or 6"+

I think there will be areas that get 1 to 2 inches in addition to the areas that get lower amounts and much higher amounts. That's how it usually works when we have these heavy rain threats.

Thinking somebody gets a boatload of rain out of this. With the front draped through the area. SPC targeting the area. Plus radar now seems to be lining up to eventually slice through the area and 2" pwats in place.

Correct. Just look at how slow those storms are moving. Where that boundary sets up — no good.

WPC discussion on the heavy rain developing and the potential flooding:

https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/metwatch/metwatch_mpd_multi.php?md=0612&yr=2026

I’m concerned about for weekend campers along the Delaware River. Hopefully they all check out today for their safety. A few cells currently popping up and not much movement with them.

Flood Advisory just issued here, the cell has been back building/hardly moving.

It’s just to my north and west, hearing the thunder but no rain here yet.

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following
  county, Orange.

* WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 723 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
    flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor
    flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Middletown, Montgomery, Scotchtown, Mechanicstown, Maybrook,
    Circleville and Bullville.

Good to hear that you’re not in the bullseye. Some of the Mesoscale models are showing up to around 9” of QPF thru Tuesday in different areas it all depends on where these cells set up shop and just dump.

Now that is split a bit I'm u see the bullseye of the southern cell, up to .73" over the last hour or so, streams running through the yard.

absolutely awesome storm ripped through westhampton last night 20 minutes after the fireworks. gusty winds, lashing rain, but nothing *too* severe like other people were affected in the forum. just a great show with very minor limb damage to trees. What are we thinking in terms of rainfall around SW nassau for the next two days? Driving to and from the hamptons this weekend I got a pretty good visual sense of where the worst of this vicious drought is and it seems like South West to South Central Nassau- and generally just the south shore, until around the Hamptons- has had it worst.

We’re in a moderate to severe drought

And getting occasional quarter to half inch rain events isn't going to bust us out of this horrible drought. We need heavy rain events, and unfortunately getting flooding in spots is part of that. But we need it or else this drought will continue to get worse and worse, which is devastating for agriculture.

Any anyway, people rooting for whatever type of weather they enjoy isn't gonna change what's going to happen. So there's no use getting annoyed with people for liking extreme weather. This is a weather board, so it's the place where you're going to find lots of people that are interested in extreme weather. Most people here want to see big snowstorms and blizzards, and those events cause damage and kill people. You can't help what type weather you like -- no one should be judged.

Quite dark to the southwest

One downpour missing me just to the east right now, and another to the west. I'm being split again, lol. But with all the activity to the west, it's hard to believe our area will miss out on the heavy rain again.
