Mowed again yesterday. It’s been very dry . May 20 is the magic date each year for lawns in terms of when they look best and at peak. After that date it’s all down hill
CoastalWx
Mine is usually in June. Still looks meh, especially in back. Front is good. But Stein is bad.

Absolutely destroyed my lawn last year. Downright murdered my new grass and I don’t think I mowed from like July yo September.
moneypitmike
Did my second mowing at Pit2 lastnight and discovered the lawn really looks crappy. It had always been pretty darn good looking, so I'm not sure what happened to it over the last 6 months. Biggest problem is there's suddenly a bunch of dandelions. A secondary concern is other types of things (not crabgrass) that' appearing. What do you recommend for getting rid of at least the dandelions? I cold probably put down some seed as well. I need to do things in the right order. Help!

You can spot treat with spray but that won’t prevent those nasty things from coming back next year. If you don’t fertilize , the lawn will continue to deteriorate like that each year 1
Brewbeer
Agree with Damaged, if you feed the grass, it will help keep the weeds at bay. I do early season and late season fertilizer applications, before the weeds start growing, and after they have more or less stopped.

I need to do things in the right order. Help! If you dont want to look at them for another 2 weeks (as flowering winds down), pull them with one of those extendable tools. Like $30 on Amazon. Next year hit them with pre-emergent (corn gluten) like the 2nd week of April, then the 1st week of May. It'll take care of that other grass, too. It's remarkably effective. Putting any synthetic fertilizer or herbicide that close to water is about the worst thing you could do. And it won't do anything for your current situation, either. 1 1
