I completely checked out while in Florida with the kids on vacation week, but one thing that became clear as I started to look at things this past weekend was how well 700 and 850 mb f-gen was going to align vertically. That usually signals a single intense band, and when you get to that level of lift you can usually bet on a subsidence zone nearby. I was hopeful the secondary band at 700 mb farther northwest was going to do its mid level magic, but the dry air has really given that one fits so far.

The system has occluded by now so the moisture inflow is starting to cut off. Probably won't see much more enhancement from that western band but it could help to add to that eastern band once they converge

Just hoping to get as much as I can in these next few hours as the spigot turns off for good.

I knew you'd get crushed. As you lighten up, things are picking up here.

Just sad...utterly crestfallen.

I've been on the other side of these a lot. It's shit.

Just know that it's my son's 9th birthday tomorrow, and they just cancelled school. As crestfallen as you are, he will remember this more intensely than you will. He is overjoyed.

And then he will go on to be a weenie, and he will have the privilege of experiencing the same disappointment and joy. It's how intergenerational trauma works!

Just plastered here in Narragansett and still dumping. Hard to measure. Was maybe 16 to 18 around 8AM, with another 8-10 since. A bit hard to measure, so take with a grain of salt. Could be more... 20260223_105515.thumb.jpg.33b3ccb1a4aed7d1dbe6425d85960077.jpg20260223_110103.thumb.jpg.1e3141b88dc5c6a857aaad5a9d641ef4.jpg

still..massive L for that model in the mid-range taking it OTS and weak for days and days and only finally did it catch on and then slowly ticked NW closer to the benchmark.

GFS/GEM had this as a big hit Tuesday, lost it that 00Z run then it was mostly back after that.

Yeah but the GFS had some ridiculous solutions. I get what you're saying though. The moves East are too much too close in. I'd say that if it went West North or South that much too. Saturday morning when things were slipping away for WOR...The GFS should have had the track nailed down better that close in. I actually think the NAM did ok. Expectations with the NAM are much less anyways
