CP should definitely be over 20...

They definitely should but if they don't frequently measure it would be lost already due to compaction.

Nice! If it hadn't been such a cold, long, snow covered winter already, I would have made the trek east to get into that. I contemplated it. I'm sort of burnt out from winter already though. Still ended up with a solid snowfall on the western fringe out my way last night, (8-9 inches).

Really wanted to share this one real quick. I've got more to share but I'm out filming when I'm not working and haven't had time to download everything yet.

If you don’t mind me asking, which type of software are you using to embed those clips? I used to work in still photography years ago but never got a chance to get into film. Has always been kind of a dream to be able to create a documentary. You have a really good eye for the visual arts.

CP meaaured 1.89 liquid. Impressive storm.
I can't recall when the 19.7 total was reported, but 0.15 liquid was reported from 1 PM to 4 PM and 0.09 liquid from 2 PM to 4 PM
CP should definitely be over 20...

Exactly 1 PM for that report so the extra .15 should get CP to about 21 inches. But it's CP so probably gets it to 19.9

So I take most of the videos on my phone. I’ll then upload them to my computer before converting them on ezgif.com making sure the framerate and length are good, I then optimize the gif so that it doesn’t tank everyone’s bit rate on the site, resave to my computer, then upload to imgur.com where I can hot link the gif so it just pops up in the post.

It appears that NYC did not add any snow after 1 p.m. (to their report) ... total is still 19.7" in climate summary just issued. I suppose that could be adjusted later.

LGA total is now 22.5

ISP total is now 29.1

JFK total is now 20.1

EWR total is now 25.1 ... not sure why today's total does not add up to earlier reports I saw

... will see what all these say at end of day in CF6 documents ...

See now that's ridiculous. If there was 0.15 inches of precipitation since 1PM (according to their official obs), it should have translated into approx. 1.5". Same thing happened with the January storm.

Why? Lots of reports nearby are in line with its number

Unlike the park, they do measure and start over every 6 hours.  Not only that, they report new snow every hour.

It is very unlikely to exceed their totals using a different measuring protocol (non FAA), but that's just the way it is.

I don't have a major issue with today.  ISP had hours more accumulating snowfall than there was here despite being only 8 or 9 miles away as the crow flies.

I am a wee bit envious of those who didn't spend a huge chunk of the storm in a subsidence hole, or whatever that was.  On the other hand, we're still digging out and the xc skiing will be great.

It's the same report from Upton at 2 PM that showed CPs 1 PM total. There might be another report yet from Upton with full snow storm totals.

The 19.7 was recorded at 1PM.

As you say there was .15 liquid, which fell as snow, after that.

They started well, they ran the race well they just couldn't finish the race. It's an old story that usually doesn't end well. Hopefully it's adjusted tonight but the 4:00 PM daily update still had the 19.7 so I doubt it.

I was suspicious of how much liquid fell from 2-4pm.  The 1-2pm made sense but I wondered if the ensuing QPF was perhaps melting of snow off the sensor or something as it seemed way too high.  I could buy they got 20.1 or something as it snowed decently from 1-2pm but not sure they realistically got anything after that.

Snow total report is definitely still from 2 pm when the 1 pm total was released. There should be one more report.

For Central Park it was good. From what I've seen through many years, they were a B+ for staying on top of things today. I've seen to many failing grades in the past.
