bluewave
33 minutes ago, FPizz said: NYC will go over 50" and have a below normal temp wise winter by several degrees. So much for that VEI 7 volcano huh @bluewave? Time to re-evaluate your dumb hypothesis, or tell a few walls that might care. I jokingly said to Allsnow a few years back that it would take a volcanic eruption for Central Park to measure 50”. I thought it would be a challenge before this winter began but I never speak in absolutes or use terms like impossible. We’ll see where they land after today as they came in this event with 22.3” on the season. Also never said it was impossible to have another colder winter just that it was a struggle over the last decade with how warm it was. I am very happy with how this winter has turned out as we really needed a good one after the long string of disappointing winters. You seem like a very angry person from reading many of your posts. 1

We knew this was a distinct possibility. Exactly what I anticipated happened. Should still wind up with 12-13” so a very nice storm and amazing to see what it’s doing to the east
mikem81
I measured 13-15 inches here in western Nassau around Garden City. Not sure if it’s too low since it’s been so windy but it could be we didnt get the best banding over night. Had 5 inches at 830pm so find it hard to believe it only snowed 8-9 last 12 hours
Astoriaweather
Think it’s now dumping at about 2 inches per hour in northwest Queens .

Volcanic Winter
We’re around 18 on the stake, but blowing snow complicates. It’s quite a bit. I’ll get out shortly and do a better assessment.

GFS for the epic win and IMO the RGEM for the epic fail. Even more so than the EURO IMO. I am just more shocked with the RGEM for a complete failure especially 36-24 to 12 hours prior to the event. Just horrendous. 1

Rwes1
Just epic. And still coming down hard. This is one of the greatest of all time here that I can remember in my lifetime, was born 2 years after 78. I’ve got 5’ drifts along my stockade fence. A little concerned this is going to take some effort to clear even with the snowblower!

BxEngine
Honestly kinda puts 96 in perspective (up here). The conditions we had from about 4 am thru 8 am today was roughly what we had for 12 hours straight in 96 and its why for my area 96 will always be king. 2

Brian5671
Other than the white rain at the start-no rain threat anywhere which is unusual-usually we have to worry about warm noses and track of the storm-no such threat this go around
