people are in denial; it will miss us, still a chance this will be nothing; its only at the shore, its only boston yada yada. people do not want to believe it; years of busts remembered but no one remembers 5 years ago or ten years ago......i can't believe the things i'm hearing from people, likewise i can't wrap my head around what i'm seeing here; this isn't just some snow, this is serious damn business.

It is frustrating to dedicate hours and hours into model runs each day leading up to the storm and realizing what is about to take place and then some random person who watched the 6 o'clock news yesterday argues with you on whether it's going to be a storm or not. I am always fascinated at the average person's understanding of the weather or lack there of!

I was here lurking at the time. I went out and bought two generators and enough gas to ride out the storm comfortably. I remember reading on here then seeing that there was going to be a full moon and thought….holy sh*t…..

and it snowed a week later.....

Thank you!

really trying to figure out if it’s worth staying up all night or not.
Even though my days of loving snow are in the past, this seems like a potentially special, once in a generation type storm.
worth losing a little sleep over it

We will be pulling an all nighter sir. We only live once. Get a great night sleep tonight to prepare.

Can someone enlighten me quickly on what the darker orange spots are here ? Its stronger bands correct ?

You’re looking at the jet stream and pieces of energy traveling a long it in the mid levels of the atmosphere.

For whatever reason the RGEM has been stubborn with this storm. I think it’s suffering from convective feedback.

The RGEM is usually too dry in these big storm scenarios, same with most of the globals. They don't generally pick up on the dynamics and banding as well as the short range, hi-res models.
