I was thinking 12/2009... but it's just not big enough when compared to what this looks to be...

Now I'm onto 78 or 96... 78 wins given the wind... there were drifts ten feet high on Long Island for that one...

The 78 storm did run closer to the coast... introduced some freezing rain... but rarely do you get a monster storm without some mix, no matter how brief, on Long Island... wound up with two feet and 10 foot drifts...

This looks to be shaping into a monster as well... hope when all is said and done it joins 78 and 96 as another classic...

Good luck all...

No rain or freezing rain during the February 1978 blizzard (except possibly right near Montauk for a bit, but I'm not sure).  You might be thinking of the big January near blizzard that year which ended as a mix.

Temperatures prior to the Feb 6 storm were very cold (near 0 on LI the morning of the 5th) and well below freezing except for a couple of hours late on the 6th from ISP south and east as they got involved with a coastal front and the temp rose to around freezing.

We had snow up to my keester but my most vivid memory is the wind; it was insane.

That storm on the Long Beach boardwalk was the best winter storm experience I’ve ever had. Wind with intensity even though the heaviest was over NJ. Thunder snow on 12/30/00 second best. My mom passed away recently so I can’t stay at her house for this but my place is fine.

Very sorry JM.

I don't envy the position of the NWS. Very interested to see what they do. Euro is clearly an eastern outlier but I don't seem them throwing out the euro suite in the same way that they would if it was the GFS depicting this solution.

lol not really are you? I actually want spring. My kids are bored out of their minds so am I. I want spring.

But if we get a big snowstorm that would be amazing too. Edit: A big snowstorm is cool, but spring is better.  I would rather prefer that

Snowstorms are better then spring. Spring is nice....but let's not get crazy

Let’s flip the script here…if all the models were showing a miss/graze and the Euro was the only one showing a snowstorm, which would you go with?

The rest of the models won when this scenario happened with Juno in 2015.

This is a valid point.

I think the problem is that we have been burnt so many times by betting against the euro. You would think that within 70 hours the euro would have a good handle on this. With that being said, euro has performed poorly lately.

Regardless of final outcome, all models have performed poorly with this system. Euro has been atrocious with this, even if it ends up being correct in its current depiction.
