Go out dude.  It’s beautiful.  Once the sleet hits I’m going to bed.  Enjoying this now. Bout to go back out soon.

Those yellows to the southwest of y’all look like they want to break free from the CC sleet line. Hope you guys get crushed with that stuff. Solid snow back home in NoVa, meanwhile we’re constructing the next glacier here.

I thought about chasing this to my sister’s in Harrisonburg (also at JMU). Any sense of what ya’ll got before the flip?

Eyeballing from my window but maybe 2-3 inches? Grass is completely covered, and it already looks like the sleet has tried its best to cover up some of the pathway footprints. 12+ hours of this stuff might match or exceed our snow total.

Yeah, the (former) Uptown. Even that rings a snow bell. My wife and I, back in 2002, went there on Xmas Eve (or Day?) to see one of the LOTR trilogy, I forget which one, with a little bit of snow that was either falling or had fallen. So that's three obscure data points. It's a tiny bell with the ringer covered in gauze tape. But I do know it was the Uptown.

Pretty heavy in up nw, but I'm not really invested in the storm for some reason. Pre-occupied, maybe, or the fact that we've all this bitter cold, and we're going to get a Burning Man of sleet. Which isn't that bad from the point of view of winter histography, but is a bit of a disappointment because, as others have said, I feel we're wasting a golden opportunity, which don't come around too often around here, for a quasi-HECSnowstorm.

HRRR has been showing pure rain along and east of 95 at the very tail end of the storm for the past few runs. Imagine it's overblown but hoping that doesn't get anywhere close to verifying

It has the entire state of Delaware going to plain rain. I can't imagine we go above freezing and get rain, but if we do, it will soak into the snow and everything will be a block of ice and plowed surfaces will become skating rinks. That would end up being the bigger story.
