Reached?? Armchair psychology is second only to weather tracking here haha.

I'm still hoping for a 6" floor as I have been for days (yes, including sleet).

I am in the Baltimore-North snow drought hole with Maestro, Towson, Rick, BaltoSquid etc and I wanted a bigger, snowier storm and get anyone who is bummed BUT I refuse to spend the storm all cranky. Not reading hundreds of cranky posts either, it will be ignore time and get off the forum time. Here's to frozen precip, health, happiness, and hopefully some laughs as it plays out!

Yea I’m actually dealing with a sinus cold that came on 2 days ago so I periodically crank up, but overall I’m kinda bullish imby on this event. Battling a sleet line in these temps is objectively dumb, but it’s still gonna snow and not just a wimpy one.

It is crazy…..my bill due in February is probably 50% higher than I’ve ever had in my place, which I’ve been in for 15 years.

Rates have gone way up. And for reasons I don’t understand, other suppliers have totally pulled out of the market.

Its not any better with delmarva. There was outrage last year, people ain't seen nothing yet. Im betting bills are going to easily be over $1000 a month for many.

Some days its so bad, its actually cheaper to go stay in a hotel than it is to heat your house.

I have some neighbors who had power/electric bills over $700 last bill....the previous years they are $200-$300.   Kwh went from 7-8 cents to 12-13.

All of that is SUPER ugly! YIKES. Someone said Dominion Electric VA hiked rates at start of year, so we'll see what happens. Sadly many have to be chained to that with no recourse, and I seriously doubt it gets better going forward. Happily I use the 3 step heating system, cut the wood, stack the wood, burn the wood. I have propane (which is ridiculously high too) as back-up and what I call 'shoulder seasons' in early fall and late spring, but that may go bye-bye if propane keeps going up and I'll just burn wood 24/7/200+.

Surprisingly fuel oil may be cheaper than electricity right now.

I just got hit with my second $900 energy bill, and that was AFTER I took pretty significant steps to curb it. Two zone gas system, and I just upgraded zone 1 for more efficiency. The gas side of the bill was $465 averaging $14/day. When we first moved in 7 years ago, it was $270 total energy MAX, gas and kwh.

I'm not sure what else to do to get it lower, because nothing actually seems to work.

Honestly haven't seen too many tantrums yet, mostly people being real about possibilities.   We're getting a winter storm and we're all going to enjoy it.

I'm gonna try to, man. I've gotten better at enjoying it when it comes. Like I have enjoyed and appreciated small snowfalls more the last few years because that's all I've had. But I am absolutely bummed to miss warning level again (minus the sleet I'm guessing 4-5 inches). Last 10 years have beaten me up snow-wise. Can't get over the hump...

$900 is crazy… but I guess that tracks. I pay like $100 a month during the winter for a shoebox apartment that I leave at 66 degrees.

The worst part is...sleet is difficult to shovel and I have chronic fatigue syndrome. So not only will the snow likely not be warning level, but now it's gonna require twice the amount of energy to shovel and twice as long.

Shoveling isn't easy for me, but it's worth it when it's a great event. Shoveling an underachiever with the added toilet of sleet is even worse. I'll probably turn on Beethoven and pound the crap out of it, lol

Yeah shoveling sleet, especially after it has settled for a bit, is...not fun.  It's nearly impossible to scrape off a driveway.  I guess hopefully it will be cold enough that it won't really melt/refreeze into a solid brick, and mainly just be like moving a bunch of pellets.  Still not easy (compared to having only snow).  Many, many years ago, growing up in northeast Ohio, I recall this storm that dumped sleet followed by heavy snow on top (kinda the reverse of what we're looking at tomorrow).  In that case, the sleet did compress down and cake itself onto the driveway pavement.  It took me forever to shovel snow and also scrape enough of the underneath sleet layer off!!!

I’ll probably cackle like a crazy person if I end up with 4-5 inches in Baltimore because that’s been the max I can get out of any system the past 10 years.

The thing that’s truly saving my mental sanity is the cold air behind this system. I like that it’ll look wintry and shiny for several days. That’s about all I got right now.
