Their latest forecast map has central Park at 4.4 when all is said and done

Again. Their forecast is 1-3 this afternoon. 1-3 this evening. Forecast range from NWS is 2-6". Average that, and yes, their map says 4". But if you only get 2", that is an accurate snowfall forecast. This is not hard.

Probably unnecessary to say, but the NWS forecasts the amount of snow that will accumulate in central Park.  They do not attempt to forcast what someone from the observatory will measure.

And some here believe that measurements are taken at 42nd and broadway over a subway vent grate.

With the half inch CPK already received that's 2.5 and well within their 2 to 4 inch forecast

gotta say that's pretty lame. what exactly are we waiting for? already got around 2 inches or so here in cnj......thought more was expected. whatever, nice weekend. got more good photos.

That forecast from NWS was additional to what has already fallen.

I think it’s going to be location dependent, depending on precipitation type. Looking mostly wet, not white for a large part of LI. Again, location dependent, even on LI

Dude idk where your located but long island deft isn't wet aka meaning rain....

100% wrong on the no snow on the SS.

however I agree that for most of the island, minus the twin forks, it’s going to be mostly rain. Rates not enough to overcome the warm

Haha what? It’s been snowing here all day. It’s actually picked up. Roads are still snow covered lol

Sounds about right. Even an inch tonight would put them at double digits and about average snowfall for the season to date. After the last few years this feels great, even if it's barely average.

Same here, though some neighborhoods I passed in Brooklyn this morning were wet/slushy.

Yeah last year and this year shows that cold air alone does not help. 1980s pattern.

To be fair based on Central Park's measuring track record this could be the case.

At 1 pm, all the Long Island locations reporting p-type were reporting light snow. Whether the snow is accumulating is a different matter.

Post the 4” forecast thanks.

local media was saying we could get 5....could being the active word....but 3 was more in line. i believe it was wnyc; at the time, around 11 am, it had turned to light sleet; switched back to snow for a bit, but has done nothing notable since, so am hoping for that later burst. but overall, happy with the weekend.

Light snow in Bayside again. Been on and off like this for the past few hours. Radar echoes look better right off the jersey shore. If we get those, then we'll hit our 2-4" target.
