Yeah you're all going to want to watch out if that phasing trend continues in the west with this weekend system. Potential for a major short range bust in the positive direction and a major winter storm for the sub-forum.

Pretty great trends at 500mb...

The PV over the Canadian Maritimes is pulling out a bit quicker, the northern stream diving into the Rockies is definitely trending more amped (with more amped ridging over western Canada/Alaska), there's better phasing, and heights are rising more ahead of the storm.

I'm intrigued and definitely keeping an eye out for this more phase trend to hold. Won't shock me if it trends back to less phased and way south though. Lots of moving pieces to watch. Would be a huge win for subforum. I would be happy just getting a few inches to cover ground before arctic tundra sets in.
