Hvward
And Franklin, clearing a move towards more snowfall on the 18z runs. Lets see if that continues through the 00z and 06z and it will be real to me. 7
wncsnow
I think (and hope) it's going to increase tonight The western trend has been evident with about every storm this year, why stop now?
Aleksey
After seeing the Euro make a big jump like that I wouldn’t be surprised to see the heavier snow keep ticking west our way. But then again wouldn’t be surprised to wake up in the morning and poof it’s gone lol.Exactly why I’m not getting excited yet. If the trends continue tomorrow and even the slightest ticks west, then it’s game on. Great trends on the Euro though! .
Met1985
Also for the near future we will see a reinforcing shot of cold air and the high elevations may see some flurries tonight.
BhamParker
Might have to make a mountain chase this weekend from Birmingham. Looking at Gatlinburg, Highlands, or Maggie Valley. I lurk here every winter and this one is looking ripe. It’s been a tough year to chase in the mountains. This is y’all’s storm! .

Big weekend event in Maggie Valley with our IceFest. Skiers should be piling into town as Cataloochee increased their base by 25 inches since Sunday morning!
BooneWX
I really think this ULL could produce a hell of a band over us. It’s been so long since I’ve seen any sort of synoptic deform band over WNC.

Tyler Penland
Also for the near future we will see a reinforcing shot of cold air and the high elevations may see some flurries tonight. Yeah it's WINDY here. Some of the strongest surface gusts I've had since Helene in the hole here. It's really hard for wind to hit the surface where we are in the holler but it sure is tonight. Sw NC weather
GFS and GFS AI both have 6-16” for the mountains. This is a very tedious setup but there is some very high level boom potential there. Especially if the trend west some more.
Sw NC weather
A solid 4-7” thump on the CMC. I think I’m gonna call it a night. Here’s to good trends tonight.
Ja643y
Any thoughts on escarpment for this one? I’m thinking of chasing, but have a long haul. I’d be Right above the parkway near 226. Looks like it starts to drop off pretty quickly around the escarpment… but still has potential for 6 plus?
franklin NCwx
6z nam digging farther west and closing off over the Tennessee, Bama, and Mississippi border at 84! Would be a great run for us afterwards 3

Met1985
Id say right now a conservative 3 to 6 inches. A lot of energy flying around..we've got energy coming down from the PV and then the low. Kind of a 1 two punch possibly.

Give me 3 inches of snow and I wouldn't complain, based on the last few years. I will take more, but I am not greedy. High ratios will help out even if the moisture is lacking. I am hanging my hat on that! 1
Hvward
6z Ai Euro coming in much better for WNC, but the down east crew isn't going to like it.

Probably would’ve been 8-12” across the mountains. As HVWard said euro ai was a nice 5-8” event as well.

Hvward
Nam 3km says this starts for the high elevations Friday around noon. This one could really slip up on us here with all the angst about missing snow last weekend and the negative attitude towards forecasting that many currently have.

This is exactly what's going to happen. People say they blew it big and we aren't going to get any snow this weekend. That's fine. At least you'll be able to find crap at the grocery store.
