And we’ve seen that look all summer morph into an HHH pattern as we get closer in . With Canada torched like that, ain’t no cooling to be had

Persistence works until it doesn't. I think it'll cool some but that's still probably mostly near or AN

Outside of any days with extensive cloud cover or precip it's an above-average pattern, which will be further fueled by what would be warm/humid overnights. But days with abundant sunshine is going to be lower-to-mid 80's for higher elevations and coast and mid-to-upper 80's inland with the warmest days getting into the lower 90's.

Persistence has been a very good forecasting method for like 3-4 summers in a row now.  It will be something if we can ever pull off a full summer month of like -2 again.

People spray for ticks too? Terrible. Let’s just kill everything. :arrowhead:

Not scolding anyone here…I just hate what we’re doing to the environment and insects.

Gotta kill them before they kill us. Ticks could become the next cockroach and they could join sides and we'd be in trouble.

It’s funny the steps humans will take to avoid some sicknesses or health issues and not others. (Not meant to be COVID related, just in general).

I’m well aware of the spraying. I just think I’d be shocked at how many actually do it…skeeters, ticks, grubs, etc.

If I find a tick inside I take it outside and set it free. That’s how I roll. lol

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone say anything quite like this .

I’m all for not using pesticides and weed killers. It’s bad for wildlife as a whole, but man if I get a tick on me you bet I’m taking that bastard off and lighting it on fire.

Weather wise, it looks like we finally get relief from the humidity beginning later Friday and into the weekend. I’ll take it.

They all seem to start on the cape. I was the first one in Eastern Massachusetts with anoplasmosis. CDC was calling me practically daily. Is there still a CDC or Is that gone too?

My dad was the first person in MA to get Ehrlichiosis. Same deal, soembody from CDC flew up from Atlanta to interview him.

Might roll differently if one hid in your short hairs and gave you Lyme or anaplas.

We're in the woods with forest close to 3 sides of the house, so the tactic below would likely be futile here:
Years ago I read of using drier lint (or cotton) mixed with pyrethrin - safely, with gloves - and stuffed into TP rolls or the like.  We call the main disease-carrying tick a deer tick, but small rodents - everywhere in the woods - are the main animal vectors and they love that stuffing for nests, thus eliminating the ticks.  However, one must place rolls no more than 10 feet apart near the lawn edge and cover them to prevent rain from soaking them.  A lawn with 100 yards of edge would require 30 rolls, and they would need to be replaced every few weeks.

One idea that had been tried is to make mice who are genetically resistant to Lyme disease.  Cut off the vector.

decent results from MIT.  But then the whole Jurassic Park thing…

Ticks are relatively slow and take awhile to find a spot they like to latch into you.

Just gotta check yo self before you wreck yo self.

Or just take a shower before you got to bed. I read some study that showed it was extremely effective in getting ticks off you and finding them. Nightime when your sleeping is when they most likely are bitting you.

Feed them to your chickens along with the Japanese beetles.

Given the numbers of mouse and vole species plus their huge populations, that seems like shoveling sand against the tide.

I am fully armed with Sevin Dust, Pyrethrin and Neem Oil, Bring it on mofo's.

Good luck.

Japanese beetles will leave only to return with higher numbers at some point in the day when you’re not aware.

Only answer is to nuke em.
