MSP had a 60mph gust. Heavy rain, good light show, quality nightcap.

Holy cow, what a storm!   This reminds me of the derecho.  It briefly poured half-inch size hail, then 70 mph wind blasted through.  I couldn't even see the houses across the street.  Thankfully, our hail was only half-inch size.  A spotter only a mile away reported ping-pong ball size.

Models did a terrible job forecasting this.  The HRRR literally had nothing making it to eastern Iowa only a few hours ago.  The RRFS had something small passing across northeast Iowa.

If the MCS in Wisconsin can hold together that’s a classic Milwaukee to South Bend track. Some of the best storms in memory have taken that route.

Got some quarter hail and strong winds, not sure of what the wind damage looks like though in Downers Grove/Woodridge area.

Kind of thankful to get a chance to do it again because I'm not exaggerating when I say my backyard got split by probably less than a couple kilometers both east and west.

Flash Bang lightning out there. 3-5 strikes a minute. Watched from the porch for 90 min as these mini complex's moved SSE. Best light show of the year. They are just now weakening which could mean some left over outflows for initiation tomorrow morning similar to earlier today. Best light show of the year, until its on top of you lol.

Watched two outflow boundaries collide just to my south on radar. Nice line of storms developed with, as @Jackstraw described, constant lightning.

Had hail damage in may and got wind damage today. Tore off a couple panels of my siding, although admittedly they were probably weakened already and this was just the final straw. Wasn’t home when it happened so can’t give any estimated wind speeds. Glad I’m a renter this year but still a pain in the butt. Definitely was not expecting that today especially since we were never warmed for anything. Been a fantastic light show over the lake tonight.

13Z slight risk upgrade with the addition of a 2% tornado contour is giving me deja vu on this 20th anniversary. 

Overcast here in Madison, and the additional rain pushing in from Iowa doesn't lend confidence in clearing anytime soon, but satellite does show clearing in northern IL and nosing into far southern WI.

That line in Iowa looks to be flying though so we may yet clear out around midday. Will have to see where the outflow and differential heating boundaries end up.

Looks like we will get some nice clearing in the next hour or two and then will have the stalled front laid right overhead. Got that dying complex in Iowa, but that looks like a bigger problem for our cheeseheads to the north.

SPC already trimmed the slight out of southwestern WI behind the ongoing band, so looks like they expect primary severe threat to be with that and not any redevelopment later this afternoon.

We are getting some clearing right after the line so there’s still a chance of storms this evening

The SPC is too hung up on that struggling MCS across S WI and N IL.

Main focus will be south near remnant outflow, which is partially washing out to the far west in IA. E IA into N IL will be more of the focal point for new development this afternoon.
