Temps have fallen herein the UWS around 8-9 degrees in the past 20 minutes to around 81. Not quite as rapid as 1 mile to my east in the UES where once the front passed an hour or so ago they pretty quickly dropped to the low 70s. Crazy variation! Maybe the tall buildings in between impeded the flow?

Thunder and lightning from a pop-up storm

This little cell that dropped down from the northwest is impressive. Lots of wind gusts 40 to 50mph. The strong wind from the north made it look like a tropical storm out there with the heavy rain blowing sideways. A couple nice lightning strikes too. Much stronger than any of those storms we had a few days ago.

84 here after a high of 96.

I hit 96 at 2:40 PM!  The BEST DAY this year since winter ended!  This is what I expect and want from climate change not the mediocre heat and high humidity gook.

Loved how JFK really heated it up today-- got to 96 here.  I hope every day this summer is like this!  Just add on a few more degrees to make it triple digits :)

Is there a way to compare this to the peak heat of May 1996? I have the same weather station I had back then and the temperature I recorded yesterday was slightly hotter than the peak heat in that historic month.
