You get no bonuses.

Lol I’m getting greedy now, want a pack refresher. Any way out of it, pawatch and I had a great season even without another flake.

EURO is just wide right, dang looked like it was setting up good.

Still plenty of time left.  I don’t think you want to be jackpot 72 hours out.  Keep it steadily creeping north west.

Horst:

A hyperactive pattern w/ loads of cold air to tap spells SNOW for the MidAtlantic the next ~10 days. There's a weak clipper for dawn FRI, a brush w/ snow likely SUN, and then 2 more systems queued for next TUE &FRI. Lots of potential--but you don't shovel potential! Developing...

Good stuff. At least we know the pattern will be active and today's model runs showed that as well.

GFS at hr 69 seems like it is chasing the convection.... it was doing the exact same thing with this weeks storm early on.... i'm thinking the GFS and NAM are more than likely very close to each other at 18z.

Man, what a run (18Z GFS) with the arctic onslaught.  I'm guessing that must be the polar vortex finally dropping in on us?  When I saw the LSV in a 480 thickness I knew this was serious cold.  I've only witnessed a 480 thickness I think twice before in my life.  Once was back in the 80s and once in the 90's.  I don't think we've had that out here in the 20 years I've lived here.  I'd love for one of the data guys to see when was the last time our region dropped to 480 thickness?  MDT drops to -27C at 850 and we go below zero at the surface.  Because of the snowpack there are a few nights that MDT drops to -11F!  I certainly realize things could change concerning the polar air but that would be amazing since it immediately follows  the more than 12" of snow that has just fallen.  Exciting next few weeks for sure.  Maybe Sunday's storm comes a little more north?

That Kuchera map borders on the ridiculous. I live on a narrow side street, that is last (if ever) fully cleaned curb to curb by the borough. that much snow on top of what we have now, and there will be fights over who puts the snow where. Just this past one I got yelled at by two neighbors for putting it on the banking that the plows had already made on the other side of our street.

I don't live in the country where there are acres to throw it on. I live in an "inner city" environment.

Everyone's been on edge and worn out due to the pandemic so I could definitely see things get heated in some areas. As much as I'd love to see this much snow I'd rather people maintain their sanity lol

This seems like a good place to post what I hope will be my last post -- for now --  on the Plains Township murder-suicide.  Today's update is that it made the UK's highly popular Daily Mail website.  They have pictures and some video over there and say they didn't put up more video because it was too graphic.  Their story has additional details.  It disagrees with an earlier account I described here that said Spaide killed the Goys with his pistol but used a rifle to shot them with still more bullets.  It is so unbelievable and this wasn't a one time clash, it was an ongoing dispute.  The Goys have an autistic son.  If Spaide has any insurance or assets there could be a wrongful death civil suit so this might not be the end of this.

"Surveillance video from the scene shows the Goys yelling at Spaide and calling him a 'mother******' and a 'p****.'

Spaide goes back into his house as the Goys continue cursing at him. In the video, James is heard yelling at the neighbor 'I'll knock your a** out' and 'I'll make your life a living hell.'

Moments later, Spaide emerges from his residence holding a pistol, but the Goys carry on with the verbal abuse and seemingly challenge him to shoot, with Lisa yelling, 'Go ahead! Go ahead!'

James and Lisa initially do not react and remain standing as Spaide opens fire on them. He squeezes off multiple rounds from close range, striking both victims and causing them to collapse to the snow-covered ground.

The gunman then goes back into his house to get an AR-15-style rifle, which he uses to shoot his neighbors again, killing both in the middle of the street."
