BOS hit -8 that morning and although there was a strong wind, some locations in the burbs probably hit -10. Oddly I can't find official records on wunderground, but I remember hearing on the radio a forecast for -10 to -15 actual in the burbs. This was after a high in the upper 30s the previous day. Jan. 2003 also had a min about -7 in BOS, so probably then too. Most remarkable thing about 12/25/80 was that BOS had an afternoon max of zero, IIRC. But for the cheap 12:01 high, that would've been their coldest maximum on record. (My data only goes back thru 1920; wonder what their max was on 12/30/17, when NYC topped out at 2.) As will the people outside who are experiencing/sensing the temperature. So that adjustment would be in line with how it feels to people. In other words, short people never really experience the 2m temps. I like seeing the forecasted high of -3* in my p/c for tomorrow. 2.4* off a midnight high of 15.7*, wind gusting to 30.
