3km NAM backed way off for C NH. Fail.

I'm starting to expect a meh 3-5". As with every big storm this year, we get teased in the short range with the big goodies, but the rug gets pulled out from under us. We'll see how it plays out.

Sure seems like the pivot is right around our area.  Heavy snow just west much of the afternoon.  I can't see totals higher than 3-5".   You keep good records.  How many years since a 12"+?  I remember a couple where you got 12" but I was too far NW.   Anyhow fascinating to watch this evolve as it all comes together....

I hung out in Lowell, MA last night, throughout the day, awaiting the evolution of this system.  Consequently, I'm comtemplating where I may relocate to.  I'm torn between the Freysburg, ME area and NE MA, at the current time.  I've done way too much traveling and spent a ton of money the past 7 days, as I initially was only going S of here to document last Thursdays blizzard.

Just couldn't leave the general region within 24 hours of another fairly significant storm (and the outside chance another blizzard could envelope coastal ME).  When I finally do get back home, the conditions at my place are likely to be far more frigid and volitale than anything I've witnessed during the blizzards of the past week!

Send your wife an SUV for Valentine's Day!

Nam and GFS backed off the snow in EMA. BOS maybe gets an inch at best. Snow gradient has moved NE

??

The 12z GFS was significantly northeast of the 18z run.

The NAM runs were about the same down in MA...18z might have been a bit better.

Mesoscale Discussion 0187
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
   0356 PM CST Wed Feb 15 2017

   Areas affected...Southwest ME...East-central NH

   Concerning...Heavy snow

   Valid 152156Z - 160300Z

   CORRECTED FOR GEOGRAPHIC AREA

SUMMARY...A band of moderate to heavy snow, with rates in excess of
1"/hr, is expected to develop across portions of southwestern ME and
east-central VT over the next several hours.

DISCUSSION...Latest surface analysis reveals a low centered over
eastern MA and RI with pressure falls around 2 mb per 2 hours across
portions of far eastern MA and southwestern ME. As a result, the
general expectation is for this low to continue tracking
northeastward while gradually deepening in response to large-scale
ascent associated with the approaching upper system. This
deepening/strengthening is also expected to enhance the 850 mb
easterly flow with the resulting WAA acting to strengthen
frontogenesis and contribute to favorable mesoscale forcing for
ascent. This combination of favorable synoptic and mesoscale ascent
is expected to result in a development of a band of moderate to
heavy snowfall during the next few hours across the region. Given
the potential for modest upslope enhancements, snowfall rates over
1" per hour are possible. Areas near the coast that are currently
above freezing will gradually cool during the next hour or two with
the resulting profiles supportive of snow.

I've had a handful of them since 2011. We just can't seem to get that "biggie". Everyone else seems to have had a 20 incher in the past few years.

I laughed that you posted this.  I commend you on your 17" meh storm in jan.

Lol... I knew someone would call me out. But in my defense, if I had just had two consecutive big storms, days apart... with 3'+ on the ground, you probably wouldn't hear any complaining out of me

Anyways... been a pretty steady rain here
