Rain snow mix this morning.

nice, wish it were more for you guys.  Maybe late next week.  That period looks pretty good for such a long lead!  Not wanting to discount the inch or so you could get this weekend.  At least there are more chances lately, though I guess one is probably more than we have had up until this point.. lol

Snowing on Mt Mitchell: http://www.nchighpeaks.org/cam3/slideshow.php

Watching the webcam for my Mtn..looked like it might have started as snow but then switched over to liquid but the top of the mountain is obscured. http://www.saunookweather.com/wxwebcam.php

From Davis Weather Link data...The temperature at 4400 feet is 36...about 5000 it is 35...at 6500 feet near Mt. Mitchell it is 32.

EDIT: Appears to be raining there now as well.

EDIT: Now Heavy snow there as of 1 PM and 33 degrees. Appears to change to snow during heavier precip.

Despite recent runs, I'm not convinced we'll see more than an inch in Asheville through the weekend. If we get 2-3" around here, that's a win to me.

I am going with 1-3" and some possible surprises. These type events usually surprise people and make WLOS look really bad. The orientation of this flow favors the valleys around here so don't be surprised to wake up to .5" and it still falling Sunday morning. Heck tomorrow morning could even give some in the French Broad Valley a dusting.

In these types of systems the snow line starts on 221 right before entering McDowell heading into Marion. Normally cuts Rutherford in half.

Normally :)

I'm going to my dad's house in Marion this weekend and if they get an inch i will be ecstatic. I think it is a decent possibility though, all the models now except the NAM are showing some light snow at least

Yea thats the classic cut off right there.. I remember one storm in the early 2000's where Marion only got an inch or so but we drove down to Rutherfordton and you had 4-6 inches... pretty rare for that to happen but it does on occasion.

Webcam shows Mt. Mitchell getting pounded with accumulating snow...pleased high elevation forecast is sort of verifying.
