I've been entirely optimistic for both the trough and this event. Nobody notices when I'm being hopelessly optimistic like the reverend.

It'll continue south because it's getting shredded, it's the overall multi day trend and its butt cold over here.

It could be playing out nicely for you.  But this is morphing into a very minor event up here.

Temp rising quickly now.  Mostly cloudy, still some patches of blue to my north.

Temperatures are running way ahead of guidance here in CT now. Up to 22F in my backyard with a really gusty southerly wind. Shouldn't make a big difference but interesting.

The temps are the thing I'm looking at to indicate if the qpf modeling/trending might be a fail.  Radar shows things staying south, but it is warming quickly.

Sun has been shining brightly through thin homogenous cloud layer. Starting to get "that look" that worries me.

BOX 10 am update: Have faith!

"PRECIP SHIELD WELL TO THE WEST ACROSS WESTERN PA/NY AT 10 AM. HOWEVER HI

RES ARW AND NMM INDICATE CU FIELD OVER THE OCEAN SOUTH OF NEW

ENGLAND THIS MORNING WILL EVOLVE INTO A NEW PRECIP FIELD AND

OVERSPREAD THE AREA LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THUS SHOULD SEE TWO

DISTINCT PRECIP FIELDS INVADE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...ONE FROM THE

WEST AND ANOTHER FROM THE SOUTH BETWEEN 3 PM AND 5 PM."

For western Mass, there's little faith to be had.  The western batch is being shunted very much east rather than north (which I'd be watching in areas currently in the j/p areas  given the steady southward movement of modeled qpf).  And, the batch moving north will be invading RI/SE Mass not so much CT.

Temp's rocketing.

I'm probably the westernmost poster here, about 18 miles from the NY border, so I was expecting darker skies, especially seeing precip edge is about 40 miles away.

I try to hang in the closer NYC forum, but its generally full of drama-queens. In fact, today it's been like the Glee cast on meth.

GFS is still really meh overall except for parts of CT. Interesting battle between RGEM and GFS.

Time to just follow the radar and temp gradients--that'll tell the tale.  GC is out of the game.  Ironically, I'd be pulling for a warmer intrusion in southern zones like Tolland/Windham.  I think that'll give the indication that they may get into some decent qpf and with evaporational cooling can realize several inches.  I don't see RGEM amounts taking place though--it's continuing to slide.

Breaks of sun continue for now.
