I've been involved with weather & climate for quite a while...and I have *always* tended to joke around during slow periods such as the last few weeks.  Nothing is meant maliciously...and most of it is quite funny...but soo many seem quick to take everything I say literally that there end up being hard feelings created out of misunderstanding.

I did pick on MetFan last week...and that was just simply wrong on my part...and I sent him a pm of apology that night.  However, I did have to continue to fire verbal barbs at those  who came to his rescue with a barrage of in some sense justifiable criticism of me.  The bad feeling appears to have lingered.

I wouldn't take anything to heart if I were you Pamela, nor should anyone else. Part of the problem is that we are in a crappy pattern right now, which in turn is causing a lot of fretted nerves especially since many mets and members have called for an above normal snowy winter… which I believe will happen. Once that occurs, everyone will focus on the task at hand- tracking the MECS  that is converging in our area. Until that happens, we all have to be more civil minded when we post. I't would be a shame to see anyone get banned from a forum.

Unfortunately that probably won't help things around here. More storms mean more pbps, more misinformation, more arguing over what's the coast vs what's inland etc.

There have only been about 37 storms of a foot or more in about 145 years; roughly one every four years:

I'm spoiled. I don't remember the '80s too well and wasn't here in the '90s. I remember December 2000, February 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2010.

Having lived both sides of it...and obviously for a *much* shorter time as a girl...I can say with a pretty fair amount of confidence that the overall life experience has been much, much more pleasant for me personally since the changes.  There may be a societal element that factors into that as well.

glad you're happy now and proud to show the world the new you!

You're braver than many men, specially those who might disapprove of you due to their own sexual identity issues. It's called defensive projection, Sigmund Freud. Cheers.

Two movie lines actually inspired me:

Al Pacino in the scene in Scarface at the restaurant at the end talking to the patrons: "You people (in the restaurant) are afraid to be who you want to be"

(I was determined to not be afraid)

and

Peter O Toole in King Ralph:  "Its time you took a stand for something.  If not now when??"

I wasn't going to go to my grave living a lie.

It's certainly one of the more direct ways to fill a gender gap in an online community.

I knocked the ratio down to 500 to 1 !!!!

<give or take>
