Feb 12-13 Obs for "The Storm That Wouldn't Say NO"

Recommended Posts

22, light snow. in a lull right now between the bands.  I cleared the snow board, but unfortunately the wind and the powder made it useless for this measurement.  The snow is all blown around in drifts.  I took four measurements 5", 4", 1", 1", coming out to 2.75 for the first 5.5 hours of the storm.  Hopefully it warms up some for the 6AM measurement :)

Just swiped my board clean for midnight reading. 8.3 inches since just before 4 pm when it started, right at 1 inch an hour. Still putting it down here. Temp has climbed about half a degree, currently 21.2 degrees.

Temp climbed another 0.4 to 26.1 and then fell back to 25.9. Still snowing moderate pixie dust with occasional real snow flakes. Eyeball maybe 2". Winds gusty 10-15, variable but mostly from NNE.

Mixed snow and sleet.

Knew that damn sleet would make it here.

About 8 inches. This will hurt our shots at a foot.

Don't use radar to forecast. ;-)

I'm in one of the few locations here where DCA is actually representative!  So I've been groomed for failure these last few years.  Now that I've looked outside, it's ripping snow, about 1.75" on the ground, temp is dropping at 25/23.  Woot.

2" at Marine Corps Memorial. Drove by DCA still managed to have less snow around there with cold temps.

That big 40dbz band looks like heavy snow

The dual pol further south has the sleet line well south of that band near RIC
