While I’m not suggesting that today’s snow measurements are purposely overinflated, I highly suspect that an “event” like this 50+ years ago would have gone down in the books as a T. What I’m getting at is that the general increase in 30-year normal snow over the decades that you and Josh noted in the other thread is probably not a true increase at all. It’s driven by changes in measuring techniques. And, for Chicago in particular, the first half (at least) of our period of record was in downtown Chicago. In other words, the increase in 30-year snowfall over the decades is driven in part by the change in the official site location. UHI trends are one thing…but it’s hard to compare apples to apples when the observing site moves over time. -

As if we needed another graphic to depict how much detroit sucks at snow. But but 1.5 inches of blowing snow is so epic. (Josh). Northern areas all have had a storm, move east theres detroit then skip over to syracuse and northeast who've had a storm. -

I've been fighting Josh for years. I don't know why I bother anymore. I guess i thought i could wear him down but hes been consistently glass half full. He looks at the big picture, while I prefer the big dog and fine with no snow outside of that. Different strokes I suppose. I'll take C- from a dry/ornery negative Nancy like yourself. If you were a professor, you'd prob flunk a whole class cause you could. -

We're not talking about the start to this winter. Josh can turd polish our snow avg vs other cities all he wants, but we miss out on the big dogs. We discuss this every winter, and nothing changes. It's just the way it is. Life goes on... -

I'm in week #1 of fantasy playoffs. I have Jalen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, Tua Tagovailoa, and Gabe Davis on my rosters. Tua is backup to Jalen Hurts, and Mostert is a backup to the Davis kid from Green Bay, but Davis and Waddle see time every week. Except this one. Josh already answered the first portion, but as for the second portion... It has to do with the wave dampening/shearing out as it encounters blocking/confluence off to the NE/E.

No but I'll try and get one. My mother in law lives there. Those bands still looking decent out that way. Ann Arbor looks like it is getting clocked as should Josh aka MiSnowFreak.. Amazing.

Noted - I finished with 1.09" officially in Maytown. I haven't received a total from Maytown International yet... Speaking of Buffalo - Josh Allen will likely be riding my bench on my fantasy team this weekend. Not so much because of all the red zone picks the past 2 games, but the passing game might be somewhat limited in Orchard Park on Sunday.

Winds are now strong from the NW at Georgetown with SLP falling even more rapidly. It doesn't jibe with what Josh and Dr Knabb said about landfall already occurring.
