Absolutely massive storm in Waynesville with torrential rainfall, street flooding and hail the size of a quarter.

A thread for severe in New England 3-5 days in advance, lol. What could go wrong? Seriously though nice write up. Wiz should work for the SPC, move to Norman, OK. Live the dream in tornado alley. Hopefully this produces, but I'm keeping expectations in check at this juncture. We'll see how things set up as we get closer.

Yeah wait…he’s on the rain train now? Is this some kind of mental gymnastics so the Yanks win the series this weekend? -

Already had a hurricane landfall in US on 8/16

Got slammed pretty good by storms with 45 mph gusts and that piled up 2.5 inches of heavy, wind-driven rain. Hello, the very beginnings of El Nino! We are up to 38.4 inches on the year. Normal rain for the entire year is 30 inches.

Been cleaning up one of my pine trees, there’s several down across the neighborhood. Looks like we had a downburst while I was at work.

Will end with 5.48", seems like a lot but a relative local min compared to some in the IN/KY/OH region

Turned on the game. Love seeing old school DC football awfulness, makes me so happy to be a fan.

Yeah. Almost 20 inches of rain here between July/August. I can see this pattern/moisture plume continuing right into winter where BDR has another winter with more snow than BDL.

2026-2027 Record-breaking El Nino
raindancewx replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
The Canadian outlook for August verified way too cold for the US. Far too wet too. Worth keeping in mind for what it shows over the next few months. Fall months are often the hardest to predict anyway, particularly October, so not expecting much accuracy from these outlooks for a while. Colorado is +5F in areas expected to be -1F to -2F v. long-term averages as an example. -
There you are. I was wondering what happened to you.

I swam in Phoenix when it was 117. Not enjoyable at all. Water was hot, no shade, went back inside after 10 minutes.
