Pleasantly surprised to find my pack remains intact upon arriving home. Thought for sure we’d be down to a few piles around the driveway. Now we freeze solid and wait for a refresh.

Yes, I think it was over forecast. I agree. I think I did get more than an 8th inch radial though. Although it’s unusual for me to get more than you and any of these situations. I was out of my driveway earlier. It’s 1500 feet hard pack and it’s a freaking mess and it’s all freezing up tonight. I got four Home Depot buckets of sand to see if that can help lol we need a big snowstorm. -

Looks to be 3-4" and definitely 100% coverage out there. The minimum time of juicy dews today, the denser snowpack to begin with and the close to .1 of ice from the freezing rain on top were all factors here.

Yeah its too late to change anything now, these maps are set in stone. I made them back in 2022 and used what i could find that looked good and covered the general area and highly edited and refined them in photoshop. You are correct that 2.4 is from Piscataway i have an overlay of all the towns so i place the reports exactly where they should be, it makes it so much easier too than just guestimating. did you also have 2.4 in metuchen? i must have missed it. The Piscataway report was from @winterwx21

Pack is at 5” of waterlogged cement. I put a ruler up on the stratus gauge and it’s around 1 3/8”. I’ll estimate what fell before 1230am but I assume it’s enough to put me over 1.5”. We take the drink. -
Only if Lamar is the QB. Monken cant help himself if he has a QB who can throw downfield accurately. That's not Huntley- He can run a bit and throw short passes and screens, and HAND THE BALL OFF TO A HALL OF FAME BACK. In a way I hope Lamar cant go.

Nice work and forecast as I discussed the other day - by itself I can see the B+, but compared to 95% of the other forecasts out there, I think i should be an A. I know you're using the NY DMA map, but I've always thought that should've included Warren Co. NJ, also, like the CSA map does, as there's no reason any counties in CNJ/NNJ shouldn't be part of the NYC area, IMO. I'm not a fan of having the PA counties in the NYC metro as I think they're generally more Philly-oriented (except maybe Pike) and I think Ulster/Dutchess/Litchfield are debatable for NYC, but I'm sure it would be too much work to change what you have and the NYC DMA map is correct - it's just particularly odd it doesn't include Warren. Also, if your 2.4" measurement in NW Middlesex Co (Piscataway) is mine in Metuchen, it should be in north central Middlesex on the map (if it's Piscataway, that's fine).

About 5" on the ground at work. I'm going to bet there's 3-4" at home, further away from the lake.

How much survived ? We have about 3” here. 100% coverage

Amen! Now it's just "accepted" somehow, for better or worse (worse most likely, but oh well!). It is December 29, and there are now 16 (!!!) pages in the January medium range thread already...and probably half of those are whining and complaining that some 200+ hour setup doesn't look HECS-like enough at one cycle when it was perfect 6 hours earlier. I swear, some people think or expect that we get wall-to-wall cold and/or snow for weeks on end (a'la 2013-14 which was quite an exception), when that's not how it works around here. You take the favorable periods that come and go, and hope something good and wintry works out. Just because we may at some point flip back to "meh" and somewhat warm for a time doesn't mean it's going to be a torch with nothing through early March. All cynicism aside, I am optimistic (as much as one can be in these parts) for January. I think we likely score at least one really solid event that will be Folks to Jaws worthy. Not necessarily a HECS (probably not), but a good area-wide high end warning level snow, bigger than we got last year or the previous winter.
