  1. Past hour
  2. I'm not no much worried about a frost or freeze once to like 5/10 up here but I have found if you wait a few more weeks beyond that the soils warm up and things just seem to do better. Of course that varies from year to year with the actual weather conditions as to how fast the soils warm. Have found with cool soils things just tend to "sit there" until it really warms up and with cool soils if we hit a wet stretch things have a higher chance of rotting out. The cooler weather crops are a different story but I don't plant much of those these days.
  3. All snow for the past couple of hours here. Bit of a lull at the moment. Nothing sticking but a couple of the evergreens showed some white during the heavier moments.
  4. I split our weather database almost down the middle to compare how our climate here in Chester County has changed compared to the first 66 years of climate data (1893-1959) vs. the last 67 years of data (1960-2025). Of note 7 months have trended cooler - 3 have trended warmer and 2 have remained about the same. Overall, on an annual basis we have trended cooler by 0.2 degrees during the latest period of record.

  7. It was turning from rain to snow as I left McHenry this morning, woof.
  8. Which island? Our favorite is St Croix. Glad you had a great trip. We have to go back to Texas this next weekend. 3rd time in 5 weeks.
  9. Maybe we can finally get some severe weather and even for that matter, just rain into the Tn Valley finally, its been realitive dead here since the new year, only 3 confirmed tornadoes in TN
  10. I have in some cool weather vegetables. I actually put in the some early girl tomatoes that I don’t care if I loose. But I’m in one of the warmest parts of this forum. I bet they will be fine if it gets to 32 for an hour or two. .
  11. Kind of strange hearing the wind through the leaves. Been a while.
  12. The equatorial east Atlantic and west Africa have seen persistent westerly wind anomalies and above normal precip since mid-March, which is uncharacteristic of developing El Ninos. https://x.com/yconsor/status/2045877323635810439
  13. Thank you! It was truly amazing. Problem is, every time we go somewhere new we end up loving it and now we have a list of new places and ones we want to return to. Did you post your winter grade? I'm curious what your thoughts are.
  14. Lee side sry area still showing up on models
  15. Who doesn't have screens in their windows? With no screens, what's the point of windows except for light. All sorts of bugs and critters will be coming right in with the windows open?
  16. I usually plant the warmer weather vegetables during the first few days of May. By then it's usually safe here, but I know you're way up in NW Jersey where you can still get frost in early May. You're wise to wait until at least mid May up there.
  17. Actually, the earliest last freezes at PHL were recorded this decade, in 2020 and 2025: 2020 Mar-08 (2020) Nov-18 (2020) 2021 Apr-03 (2021) Nov-17 (2021) 2022 Apr-18 (2022) Nov-18 (2022) 2023 Mar-21 (2023) Nov-13 (2023) 2024 Mar-24 (2024) Nov-30 (2024) 2025 Mar-09 (2025) Nov-11 (2025)
  18. Clearance from last year? Gotta get through Halloween first. On a related note, it occurred to me just this morning that we are closer to the start of the 2026 fall foliage season than to last year's.
