Still some decent rotation in this storm. Took the drone up, but there's too much rain between me and the rotation to see anything, if there is anything to see. -
July 2025 Obs/Disco ... possible historic month for heat

Everything seems to be drying up as it gets North into CT; there is the chance with that band on the MA/CT border -
Lightning was impressive both times here in Chattanooga. Today it was vivid enough to be noticeable during daylight along with crashing thunder. Wednesday night was the more traditional summer evening light show and (mostly) rolling thunder. We had one crash boom last night too that made the normally oblivious cat jump!

How much rain soaks it in? Genuinely curious what you look for. -
Wow. I picked 1.45 IMBY but it was spread over hours. As much as I’d prefer a thunderstorm to boring stratiform rain, I feel long duration light rainfall helps more with greening. Still need way more water here, but the short duration 2+ inch per hour instantaneous-rate showers seem to run off to the street without truly soaking into the soil. It’s especially bad when you have a layer of clay on a slope.

This rain is shockingly cold. -
Well, I'm a weather geek and a YouTube trucker, so I was hoping for deluges and flooded roads so I could make an interesting video today.
