gorgeous weather. Much appreciated but I think any talk of summer's back being broken is a tad premature.

Fall starts here on October 20th and lasts until the start of spring

When I think of water skiing, I think of warm water. I can’t imagine the water was all that warm in late December. I vaguely remember that Christmas even though I was only 4 just because the weather was what everyone was talking about. The following Christmas was brutally cold I believe but I don’t remember anything about that one. lol

We had 0.03" (total 0.07" for the month) and Centennial Airport had 0.02". Clearly very hit and miss, with areas north, east and south doing better. Keep fingers crossed for today.

Low of 48 up here. Currently 64. It feels like fall and I’m not ready.

Yeah I agree, although I think part of it is just adapting to the cold by then. Think of Novemeber when we first dip into the low 30's at night how cold that feels. Yet by February a high in the 30's would be nothing.

Euro was a bit better for next week overnight. Looks like one of, or a combination of Tuesday and Wednesday are cooked, but maybe not a whole week wash

@butterfish55 installed a transfer switch for me, and I honestly thing it had been great. It pretty much powers the whole house to a certain degree, minus a few things. Obviously the drawback is I had to buy a big generator and lugging that up to the driveway if I didn’t prepare beforehand can be annoying. The price of that obviously dwarfs a whole house though. 3 of my neighbors have generacs and I don’t think they’ll ever reasonably get the cost back on that, we just don’t lose power enough. If money is no object, it’s probably the way to go though. I know one of the neighbors regrets putting it in because the longest we’ve lost power in the 3-4 years he’s had it is like 3-4 hours.

Plenty of low temperatures in the 50's this morning with the Warwick DEOS our usual chilly spot at 51.8 degrees. One of the best stretches of weather we have seen in quite a while is underway. Below normal temperatures ranging from the upper 70's to low 80's with lows in the 50's to near 60 degrees through the weekend and into the start of next week. Next chances of any showers looks to be Monday night.

To me at least the cold never feels as harsh in February as it does in December or January. Especially once to mid February the increasing sun angle just helps make it not feel so bad. By mid February just by looking out the window you can tell winter is on the run. Mid February = Mid August

The 18 inch Jan 1999 storm in N Indiana will always be the storm I remember. I was only 10 at the time but it solidified my love for snow... and weather in general for that matter. I will never forget as the storm ramped up, a milk truck from the dairy farm I lived on getting stuck in our driveway as it was trying to turn around because the road west was already drifted shut, and my dad using shingles under the tires to give it some traction and get it moving again before it could become permanently stuck for days. Since then, I have seen my fair share of storms, many in excess of 3 feet, but none have made the lasting impression that Jan 99 did. It was a storm through the eyes of a kid and one that set in motion the direction my life would take.

I remember driving from Tucson to Phoenix many years ago and seeing lightning from the top of the storm clouds.. It was awe inspiring. You would never get a view like that at sea level around here.

I can't seem to tolerate "extremes" on either side of the calendar anymore. Cold always bothered me, but now summer heat and humidity does as well. I probably should move to San Diego.

Driving back and forth over the Blue Mountain multiple times per day, it's easy to see the haves and have nots just by looking at the lawns on either side. Green in Schuylkill County and brown in Lehigh County.

Yeah it seems there was some internal rot but showed no exterior signs. Always looked very healthy and put off lots of new growth. I will say it was a leaner. From the moment we moved into this house I knew it could eventually go, despite its massive size and healthy appearance. The lean was in a direction away from the house so we never worried about it too much and luckily it played out that way.
