Ridge axis is a bit further east but seems to have a more potent NS energy dropping south. The main NS energy which retrogrades and drops over us might be in a slightly better position but I'm not sure.
-
But there seems to be more of a “connection” with the energy over nova scotia, which may not be what we want. But it could be nothing

Just finished driveway round two and done. Still using only a hammer and snow shovel lol. I was actually impressed at how handy the hammer was with busting up or slicing away/removing the ice crust. Lighter and easier for me than jabbing at it with a metal shovel. After my labors I tested out the snowpack. Broke through occasionally but was mostly able to walk on top! Instant being a kid again!! This is after a high of 26 and sun, it can only get better. 110 lbs tops ymmv.

Ain't happening James. Had to say it. -
If this storm hits the way it looks, this would be a HECS.
-
Zoom classes for Georgetown tomorrow. More modelwatching for me.
-
Boston probably still has a couple inches to go today/tonight.
-
Yes, assuming it occurs.
-
It was maybe Central Park so safe to round to 10

I used to be like you. Then I watched south and east of me get hit for the past 5 winters I while smoked cirrus. I dont discount seasonal trends anymore.
-
Well that stat says keep your enthusiasm in check.
-
This has been brought up several times today by other posters including but not limited to chill and psu. you are slow to call bingo.
-
So this would be a once in a lifetime event(s) 2 MECS so close together
-
I need a foot of snow to thoroughly bury this glacier lol. Walking on top of the ice sheet unless I stomp my feet to break through to the snow.

I ended up barely making it above freezing at 1:34 this afternoon, when we hit 32.1 F IMBY. We have since fallen back down to 26.8 F, at 4:40 PM, under full sun. This is a cold day by Hickory standards. This sleet has staying power, as does the freezing rain. Anything that was shaded from full sun, has not had any melt today. My driveway, is still a solid 1.5+ inches thick of sleet concrete. Schools are already canceled again tomorrow, and Wednesday is looking like a remote learning day.

Spin up a meso-low on the lee-side and we will be in business. Hard to forecast those, but if we can get that to work out, typically there will be heavy snow in our area and then again on the coast.

First mention of atmospheric memory! Bingo card

Icon was not far off. Still had a bombing coastal low with coastal sections getting snow as the run ended. Chance it could have tucked more if it ran out far enough. That’s all you can ask for at this range . -
Hi Tat, I remember you from the old NYC Metro forum. While reminiscing...how did you do with the great [forgotten]storm of 1978? Third week of January(?). It was a blown forecast; it was supposed to change to rain. I got 16 inches, here. Ended with a period of freezing rain/drizzle which left a shiny glaze on the surface. I wish I had a photo.
