I think KMPV might have hit a record low for 12/05. NOWData has it at -7° in 1971 and it got down to -8° this morning.

You are probably right that his career is damaged because of the things he said about other schools and people, but I actually came across kind of liking him more haha. Fascinating to listen to, just hashing everything out with real talk. Sounded like totally normal stuff people would say when having what they think is a private conversation. Speaking of which, the bigger issue here is whoever released that (likely a player) committed a serious crime (I believe a felony?). Pennsylvania has very strict two-party consent laws about releasing private conversations. That's despicable behavior by whoever did it and will likely scuttle what was left of whatever chance they had to hire someone decent. I felt almost dirty listening to it, knowing it was meant to be between only the people in that room. A total violation of trust, and again, criminal behavior. -

shift back south on 12z and drying out, especially east. HRRR is the only one that stays north and juiced. -
Now we wait to see what DCA reports when all is said and done.

Too dry-probably some virga

I still feel that Jan and Feb should be analyzed separately. Since 1983-4: -3 times as many -ENSO -PNA Decembers were followed by cold Jans as mild Jans including the recent Jan of 2022. In addition, there were cold Jans in 2014, 2011, 2009, 1985, and 1984. Related to this, 9 of 11 of these Jans were either cold or pretty close to normal. -But 6 times as many mild Febs vs the only cold Feb

The Great Lakes and N plains have actually seen an increase in snow cover in the last 40-50 years. We’ve def been on the ugly side the last decade and CC enhances it…but there’s always a natural variability aspect to it too. I know I’ve made it a point to show that the warmest anomalies in North America outside of the arctic over the past decade were right here into SE Canada.

Thanks! Getting it exactly right was pure luck. Being in the ballpark was somewhat easier by expecting the winds and clouds to have a direct influence on the temp. It just felt like guidance and forecasts were way too aggressive on how cold it was going to get. I sorta felt bad about missing your backyard's temp by 5 degrees until I realized that I nailed MDT on the button...and that's the only one that matters, right? -
lots of record cold today, do we snow tomorrow?

That plus the leaves can blow onto the neighbors lawn all winter!

Lol, 20 minutes west of you my kid in Silver Spring looked out at the same amount of snow and was crushed that moco didn't delay. He still immediately went outside and ate some fresh powder (his favorite)

Got 1.25” on my flat metallic table on my balcony. Hardly a non-exposed location though so am probably gonna defer to DCA or spotters. Didn’t really think we’d get to 1” though, so that’s awesome! -
Don’t know how much at home but squinting through my Ring doorbell cam suggests front yard is mostly covered. That’s why you mow the grass short before winter, people!

Closing in on an inch now in Silver Spring, which is good enough for me. Schools open is even better (sorry kiddos)!

Got a good snowbank over College Park. Best thing in the world is to have your kids wake up and go berserk over the snow. My daughter gave me a hug. lol
