Yea, I just looked back at that section of my publication from last fall. I think if we hold it for another month, we should be good. -

It's May-Sept. We are 42% of the way through. May was pretty neutral in N. Atlantic SSTA. Cold pool, -NAO orientation has only appeared in June and July. -

I wouldn't worry about that lol. -NAO in Super Nino STJ is ideal. Question is if the Pacific will still respond to decadal +EPO/-PNA pattern. -

If you could re-experience ONE winter event....
EC609 replied to cyclone77's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
March 1993 superstorm. Southwest Virginia. High Chaparral community at 3300'. 46 inches of snow. 30 inches in a 24 hour period. Over 50 inches at High Knob at 4200'. 12 foot drifts, hurricane force wind gusts. Totally insane. This is an area very used to snow. The average at Wise at 2650' in the valley is over 45 inches per season. High Knob itself averages closer to 90 inches per Winter. Snowiest part of Virginia. Most people aren't even aware of the climate of this area. Highknoblandform.com -

Didn't rain much at my house today so far, but I'm on the lake for trivia night and it came an epic rainer at the boat dock. One clap of thunder in the whole thing but it probably rained an inch in 25 minutes.

Raindance has stated that -AMO could lead to a cold winter for the country.....I'm not saying there isn't any truth to that, it's just that that site tends to seeks out avenues to cold IMO. -
Crazy rainbow here right now. Got fringed by storm just a few hundredths of an inch but it’s been an excellent one to watch go by. Power outages showing up around Cary. Probably a microburst in that area based on mPING reports
-
Up to 2" here through tomorrow night. They are always bullish on rainfall lately, only to back off as the event nears. Given the scattered nature of storms this time of year, it generally doesnt work out very well to go with widespread heavy amounts across the area. Hasn't worked out here at all.

Wound up with .19". Some possible rotation around Cary Crossroads. Wind was decent too. mPING reported hail reported in the area. Down to 77/81. edit: this time of day should produce some nice rainbows.
-
We were on the edge of the storm enough that it stayed really bright, which just made it clear just how insanely windy it was. We also got a nice burst of hail.
