  1. Past hour
  2. I have 3 young kids…I hope this change never happens. For all the idiots living down south or in the eastern parts of a time zone, there are a lot of us up north sending kids to school in darkness. For that reason, I believe it will never happen. It isnt even that extreme here. If you live in a place like Ohio, it will be dark until 9 am. That is ridiculous
  3. That's why it only lasted a year the last go around. Sunrise at 8:15am in NYC in Dec/Jan and closer to 9:15am in the western ends of each time zone. Won't last if we go to it....
  4. For any aviation nerds, or just a nerd in general, this link was on the CoCoRaHS website this morning. They made a point of saying that there were a lot of commercial breaks, but I used the Duck player embedded in the Duck Duck Go browser and had no interruptions. Some pretty cool stuff!
  5. i rather they go back to what it was when george w was president when the clocks fell back changed before halloween so it would be dark out..i do not want dst to be permanent imagine in december when the sun would rise at 8:00 am...
  6. about 2 inches of much needed rain here.
  7. The noreaster in 92 was gnarly living on Sandy hook bay/ Shrewsbury River. I'm from a tiny beach town named Highlands. Right across the bridge from sandy hook national park. Water was 6' deep through the whole town with 70 mph winds
  8. This will be the 15th fall on record (but 6th out of the past 10 years) that we’ve made it this far into the season without a high below 60. Top 4 is all but clinched, but it’ll be interesting to see just how long we can go.
  9. No, it’s always the same areas. I can’t imagine a weather event which would cause flooding in less flood prone areas, other than a major major storm or hurricane. maybe wind direction? But even so, low elevation is low elevation…nothing is going to change the elevation of areas from one storm to the next. From a wind perspective this was a moderate nor’easter. From a rain perspective it was on the high end out here, with Suffolk getting 2-3+”.
  10. Messenger's back yard (may he RIP) in Plymouth must be pushing 8" at this point That coastal front / area of convergence has been nearly stationary for >24 hours Let's repeat late January
  11. Yeah he's about 2 miles from me. He was a smidge closer to the convergence zone yesterday, but just a touch less here. Guy in Hingham earlier had like 6.6". And it's still coming down in the form of small droplet sheet rains.
  12. Widespread 6-8” amounts from Plymouth to Kingston to Hull to S Wey
  13. The one Nor’easter I’ll never forget was in March of 2010. We were fairly new home owners at the time so I had to officially worry about my property for one of the first times and just remember the howling of the winds and trees down in the area. Iirc, we lost power from Saturday afternoon until some time the next day. I want to say we had some 70mph gusts that evening.
  14. Socked in with clouds still here. Though it does seem like the sky is a bit lighter. No sun yet though.
  15. I'm not familiar with specific area's and coastal flooding. Did any area's flood that typically don't in these type of set-ups? On the news and social media, they always talk about the same areas it seems, so am wondering.
  16. We should do all we can to protect our planet....but we should not encourage delusions and altered realities that somehow man is going to change the future cyclical climate we have always experienced since the dawn of time. We should not encourage or feed such fantasies!
  17. Today
  18. Now how about we show the real pattern of the NOAA adjustments....wonder why we chill the past and warm the present???
  19. I see we have reached the old "well i ain't doing shit because/until all these other places start doing shit' excuse. I don't know about you all but i don't let my property go to crap because my neighbor lets his get unsightly. Usually you double down and keep your place extra tidy to hopefully shame/embarrass the neighbor into doing the same. That's what needs to happen on global scale. Probably won't matter at this point anyway but at least we say we went down swinging. For those who dismiss CC or are not convinced of it, I might have good news. Depending on how oceanic currents break down and where one resides on the planet, your climate might actually get better....for a while. Maybe you dislike winter cold or you live in a rainy area that might dry out or a dry area might become more moist. A rare case where you get the lemonade and then you get the lemons.
  20. From World Climate Service (@WorldClimateSvc on X): 4 of the past 5 winters have seen La Niña, and 4 very different outcomes have occurred: - 2020-21: cold south - 2021-22: cold north - 2022-23: cold west - 2024-25: cold east
