I wasn't sorry to see what those impressive pictures were showing to my north. I wonder if NWS will investigate? I guess they always do whenever a tornado touches down. I recorded 0.09" since midnight, 0.43" yesterday with about half that occurring in the morning and the rest in the evening. 2-day storm total of 0.52", and now 1.94" total liquid for the month. The heaviest rain appears to have bypassed me both to the north and to the south. Blue mountain causes unexpected things (weather-related) to happen. The worst for me is down sloping of any snow shower activity that just dries up frequently. -
10:25am, east side if Columbia: pingers but 40.5°, temp slowly falling.

Looks like a mixed bag in DC if I squint out the dingy windows in my office. -
Stopped precipitating here. Nam probably ends up right with it being SE, as I am defeated.

And some snowflakes now

Finally, an over performer on rain. .97 in the rain gauge with maybe a little more to go. Very welcome rain! -
1) IAD has had accumulating snowfall after March 10th 38 times in the last 63 years. 60% of the time. 2) Change your screen name, if you're going to be this big of a douche shit poster at least don't associate it with Eagles fans, we have enough bad press (often deserved) without you piling on! 3)STFU

Nice to read the 1993 storm summary! That was one of the great ones. Still have the NGM DIFAX maps framed and on my office wall. Nice triple phaser!

Had some good sleet coming down for a bit outside of Coatesville. Lighter precip moving in, mixed back to rain. 39° F One of the wilder variations in temps and weather I’ve seen in awhile. 82 to sleet in the span of what, 36-48 hours? see if we can manage a little snow accumulation later -
May see multiple rounds of squalls NOP tomorrow evening into the early overnight. Even a bit unstable too so can't rule out some thunder/lightning

2000-01 had one of the best packs we've had here, especially late - 48" OG at my 9 PM obs time on March 31. Even Fort Kent (avg winter 134" in our 10 years there) never entered April with that much. 2004-05 was back loaded here as well. Thru the first week of February we'd not had a single event of 4"+, which is ridiculous for a locale that averages almost 90"/year. Then we had 60" in the next 31 days, 2/10 thru 3/13, to finish at 94.3". 2002-03 has similarities with this winter: lots of suppressed events, one big storm and little else of note, and cold. That season had 13.8" on Jan 3-4 and nothing else greater than 7" (and that came in November), finishing more than 20" BN. This winter it's 19.6" on Jan 25-27 and nothing else beyond 8.5", though that #2 event came on Christmas Eve and provided loads of fun for the grandkids. Their previous Christmas visit, in 2023, failed to show them a single flake or snow pile until they were headed home on Dec 30.

So, I just went to the highest point close to my house (Ironville Park at ~700') and sure enough got to see the transition from sleet to big wet snowflakes. Was snowing pretty good up there when I left, with still some sleet mixing in and obviously not laying, but cool nonetheless. Figured it may be the last time for the season (although also maybe not be ha) so wanted to find some elevation. Earlier when I took the kids to school there was just some sleet mixing in as I drove over the ridge towards Mountville. Cold air really advecting in well. Since midnight my high was 63 with a low of 38 occurring right now. I'll get a gauge reading on total liquid later when things wrap up. Not much activity around here last evening as most of the good stuff scooted by me but nice to see the discussion on that impressive cell north of Harrisburg yesterday. Onward. -
definitely the leader in the clubhouse for the 2026 Forky Award (given to the best wrong forum hit and run post which riles up the locals)
