SnowenOutThere
I'm most excited for the temps next week! Highs falling to near 60 degrees will be blissful. Some of my favorite weather is early fall rain as you get storm systems starting back up. It's humid but not the same oppressive 65 degree plus dewpoints. I've been so done with our extended summer. 2

And I will be camping for a week beginning next weekend in Searsport, Maine. Hope to see some peak leaf activity especially in Acadia National Park. Temperatures there this week have been 60s during the day and 40s at night. I’m gonna have to hope for an East Coast heat wave!

mitchnick
12 minutes ago, Ji said: How is this not snow? You'd probably want the High to start a bit more south as the surface winds would probably be more easterly than ne'ly, which would hurt the lower levels. Plus there's no slp off the coast to pull in a northerly component to the surface flow. This knowledge comes from age.
SnowenOutThere
20 minutes ago, WxUSAF said: GGEM dropping a casual 6-8” You think this storm system is a sign that we might be seeing the nino couple atmospherically? Looked briefly at the H5 maps and it seems to be almost miller-B ish though as most vorticity is coming from the north to the south (or is the subtropical jet still displaced north due to summer?) CAPE
Y'all practicing? This sounds fun/interesting from WPC EFD this morning- ..Weather/Hazards Highlights... Upper-level support and a surface frontal system will lead to multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rain in the East next week. The placement of the heaviest amounts will vary from day to day, but generally the Mid-Atlantic looks like a focus. A relatively strong surface high for September should set up over Quebec and spill a cold air damming wedge south behind the front, yielding colder than average temperatures across the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, with highs generally in the 60s and upper 50s Tuesday-Wednesday. This pattern will also allow for onshore winds and potentially some concern for coastal flooding for portions of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Euro will usually have something crazy....the GGEM or GFS will pick up on that craziness 1-2 days later but by the time they pick up on--the Euro is in no mode....and loses it lol 1

It’s the thermals you gotta watch come wintertime.

We aren't there yet. This upcoming period is probably only marginally related to the Nino. The atmospheric response in our area will likely become more notable in another month or so. Right now its about obliterating the drought. Concern about the thermals is way out there, and we know it will be problematic.
