Tghis from one who goes running in shorts at sub-50 temps.
During my first visit to Maine (Boothbay Harbor/Spruce Head 1952) I went ocean swimming any time I could get a parent down to the shore to play lifeguard.  Of course, 6-year-olds don't care about water temps until they turn blue.    When we lived in Gardiner we had a number of visits to Popham or Reid State Parks where I did some body surfing.  I will admit that I've only once found Maine salt water that was actually warm, near Otter Cliffs at Acadia on Hot Saturday (8/2/75) when BHB touched 100.

It’s typically chilly with temps in the 60’s / 70’s. Water temps in 50’s .Why would anyone want or like that in the summer at the beach ? 

Maybe at Cutler Harbor.  Midcoast and points south usually reach ocean temp in the mid-60s.

My solar inverter is rated for 5kw and was actually clipping/reducing power to the 5kw limit. 

 

 

Iirc a good portion of that Feb was a straight up torch in much of sne with a few days topping 70. I remember taking the dog outside late at night and was shocked how pleasant it felt. I wouldn’t  be totally surprised to see a few good surges of warmth next winter with the way things look to be setting up, at least south of Worcester.

One gas station up the road went from $3.66 to $3.99 in a few days...if even a few days

That's relief compared to what I've been paying. Gas was $4.89 at peak in SLK this summer and I paid $4.59 there yesterday. Brutal, brutal stuff.

Hard to tell. The core of the coldest seemed to be in the rad spots of C NH.

The SLK COOP was 34°…MSS 35°

Not sure what the cloud cover or wind was in upstate NY, but the N NH COOP sites were mostly 32-35°
